The problem is always how far do we travel to meet each other, how about Portmeirion, http://www.portmeirion-village.com/we could certainly dress to excess and do a day or overnight stay. A wonderful idea! I for one would certainly be prepared to travel down to Portmeirion for a meet up. Kind regards, Allegra

May might be a little bit difficult for me as I am away in Whitby in April and going away to London and then to Scotland in June. I am, however, free all the way through July and August.
Either way, I shall do my best to be there!

I have to put in my two cents as I am originally from Wales and moved to Canada as a child. My family has kept property there since we go back often. We return to our cottage and family village of Coedpoeth near Wrexham in North Wales every 2 years. I miss Wales with all my heart and always look forward to when I can go back. I am hoping to return sometime this year for a few weeks, provided I can save enough money. If I make it over, I would love to meet some of you fellow red dragons!
hi there we are about 45 min by car from Wrexham in the village of Llansannan, regards Vampyre

Any of you Welsh speakers? I started learning in November but haven't been able to practice much because all the Welsh I come into contact with only speak English.

Im afraid my welsh lessons were in vain. A shame, as I now know a few people that speak it fluently, as well as some of my own family

I am appauling at Welsh. I moved to Wales in year 6, and I missed out on all the basic lessons, so by the time I got into secondary school I was well behind...

A good place to meet in Cardiff, might be The Goat Major. As it reminds me of a Gentlemans Club.

we've been learning, its best to do colloquial welsh and then worry about the grammar, at least you can talk to people, its hard going because its so strange, you cant even guess what a word might be!! Vampyre

I've been doing a conversational Welsh course, but it's all CD-based so I can do phrases and hold conversations as long as I get the replys I'm expecting! I could just do with practicing in real situations but my little-Welsh-speaking friends seem reluctant to help!
(no jokes about trying my big Welsh-speaking friends please!)

For anyone interested in learning Welsh and wanting someone to talk to, set up some voice chat over the internet. I would love to re-learn Welsh. I haven't used mine since moving to Canada. My parents still speak it though which is handy when I need to here how a word sounds. If anyone's interested send me a pm.

Greetings,
Just joined this glorious fellowship.
Are people still interested in meeting in South Wales? I am ready to organise something. Most people seem to be near Swansea or Cardiff. So I suggest we alternate meetings between the two? I am located in Copperopolis to give Swansea its more usual name. That is if people are willing to travel I am certainly ready to go to Cardiff. How about sometime in May for a first meet. All in favour speak now.
The National Museum in Cardiff will be one good jaunt. Swansea has the awesome steam joy of the waterfront museum much in the way of brass and piston wheel.
Then later further adventures in other sinister locations in the birthplace of the industrial revolution.
The people of Wales will flourish in the triumphant Steam Utopia we bring.
