introducing the "warench", the cudgel for the mechanically inclined.
Stonking idea... You could always do the auto version using this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000VWUKDE?ie=UTF8&tag=ny-21 as a base... You could fit a trigger to it then...

A frozen leg of lamb in the wrong circumstances could be an offensive weapon.
See "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl. Isn't that the story used in the Alfred Hitchcock show where a woman brained her husband with a frozen cut of meat and then put it in the oven and later served it to the police investigating the murder?

That clip was brilliant...hmm...a wrench with a screwdriver taped to the bottom of it could be useful...mind you it would have to be the right kind of screwdriver. Okay steampunk time...a wrench with multiple screwdrivers on sliding rails so you can use the one you need.

I can add nothing to this one... That looks rahter a lot like a kukhri or a yaghatan. (Sp.) Note, please, the recurve and the heavier front end. This is for chopping. 'Though I can't say about the curse...

someone stop me, it's too easy to make this stuff!!! I completely forgot to put teeth on the inside of the jaws on the pipe wrench. doh. I textured the wrench by tapping it with some 36 grit sanding paper, just pushed it into the surface.

If you ever get around to doing up a 3' long crescent wrench sturdy enough to use as a cane, let me know

I know they're just props, but if they have a fiberglass rod or something through the middle to make it sturdier, those are more than adequate for LARPing. I particularly like the hammer, as it's so innocuous. Keep up the fine work!

Although likely already suggested, a steam-powered chainsaw might be just the thing for someone not so enamored with firearms.

Mr. Winter
You sir, are a genius... there must be a way to do that, if only I'd kept my old chainsaw from my forestry days. Hmmmmm. Steam Powered Chainsaw (Large; Exotic)The Gnomish Industrial Council had to think of something to cut down a lot of trees in as little time as possible. One of them came up with the idea of a rotating saw that worked on steam and so the steam powered chainsaw was born. ‘The screaming, oh the screaming of my brothers and sisters. There we’re only five half-ogre’s but the weapons they wielded by the gods those weapons came straight out of the nine hells themselves cutting through flesh and bone with one high pitched roar. What have those devilish gnomes invented now; five half-ogre’s defeating a company of twenty of my brothers and sisters in a very short time…’ -From the dairy of a soldier of IshtarThis large metal barrel is filled with water and a large metal rod is attached to the lower part of the barrel; the rod itself is enchanted with a permanent heat metal (see description of the spell) spell and is command word activated. The barrel itself is strapped to the back of the wearer. Once the command word is spoken (usually on/off) the metal rod will heat itself and the water around will start to boil and vaporize, the steam that is created will move itself through a flexible metal tube into a device that is attached to the arm of the user. Within the device the steam will turn all the small gears setting the rotating blade in motion, it takes one full round for the water to heat up enough for it to vaporize and the chainsaw can be used for ten rounds before the user needs to fill it up again with enough water. While unpowered the user can strike with the blade of the chainsaw as if it were a normal sword dealing 1d6 points of slashing damage; while activated the weapon deals 2d12 points of slashing damage. http://www.d20forge.com/contribution/display.html?id=1742

Thank you for the complement, Major Chase.
I did do a quick search, found much in the way of steam-powered sawmills. Nothing (with the exception of gaming stuff) on steam chainsaws.
This cursory search does not mean that said implements did not exist. More importantly, it does not mean that they should not exist in the future.
The only problem I can see off hand is that most steam engines seem to be stationary or kept fairly level. This would not be the case with the chainsaw.
However, perhaps one could construct the boiler and condenser in, say a backpack with the live steam being conveyed to the drive components via a flexible tube.
Just a thought.
Looking forward to hearing your views. Mr.Winter

I particularly like the hammer, as it's so innocuous. Keep up the fine work! there's nothing internal for support, just the styrofoam and the metal duct tape. the tape really firms it all up well, like a monocoque airplane. still, they wouldn't hold up long to banging around much. Ive been giving alot of thought to making a flexible mould system to make foam rubber castings. I've seen sand boxes with rubber bladders designed for custom shaping castings for amputees. I'm thinking something similar to pour basic foam castings should work fairly well. as far as a steam powered chain saw, there was a toy chain saw at the local budget store, it had sound and the chain went around. It would make a good base to build up a steamy saw from.

For those uninterested in carrying weaponry, this video is possibly the finest example of Victorian-era beatdown imaginable. You could do a lot worse than study the footwork.
