All right, here's the start of my Steampunk outfit.... And I do mean start, because it still needs a lot of work, and doesn't have nearly enough steampunk elements to it....

As you can clearly see in the last photo, I'm not even done sewing on the button covers, it's being held one with pins! Cheesy  I need to acquire some adequate goggles, (preferably ones that can fit nicely over my glasses) as well as some better shoe or boot. Oh, and I just realize that I forgot to get my pocket watch for these photos,it hangs on a chain around my neck.. Ah well. Roll Eyes Any input or suggestions are welcomed, of course!

Here's the beginning of my outfit, I admit it has a long way to go but I enjoyed putting it together all the same.  I'm going to be making my own pair of goggles soon, if I can find sufficient brass to make them with.

Anyways, here it is.

I've also since modified the leather bracelets, and made my own cane.  Well, it's more of a walking stick, but I enjoyed making it.  I just wish I had real cogs instead of the look-alike washers...

The bracelets:

And the walking stick:

And a more detailed shot of the top:

I will be replacing the strange-looking, painted on rivets with real ones soon enough, as soon as I can figure out a good way to secure the leather to the staff, and have the rivets as well.

Also, if anyone's wondering, the first picture was taken in the Golden Horseshoe, a restaurant inside of Disneyland.  I've got a season pass, mostly so I could visit my beloved while she's working.   Wink

My current steampunk gear is...not really all that steampunk, actually.

The mustache was more trouble than it was worth, and I feel the eyepatch may go for the same reasons.

I'm going to be making a new vest, though, so we'll see how it goes.

My best hair day ever:

And rarest of all, a picture of me actually looking like a girl! Tongue

I'm dressing up as a saloon girl for my costume party this weekend, and I'm pretty sure most of my friends will die of shock to see me dolled up! They all assume I'll dress as a guy, as usual. They should really learn to expect the unexpected from me, they'd be much better off.

Here is an outfit I just put together after realizing that I actually have enough items kicking around. Nothing fancy, but I think it will work well for everyday dress.

Well, after so long browsing this thread and marvelling at everyone else's fantastic-ness... Here goes nothing, I suppose. Presenting a Girl and Her Tiny Hat! (Balancing rather precariously on my head, by the way, as I tried to stand still for the self-timer.)

*Note: Majority of hideously messy bedroom cropped out in an attempt to maintain respectability. At first glance, did not work.
**Note to self: De-clutter room. Or find better place to take pictures.

'Angry face' at work.

This is just something thrown together, but I actually rather like it. True, there needs to be a bit more 'steam' to my 'punk' (or is it 'punk' to my 'steam'?), but I'm still figuring that out. Any suggestions would be appreciated, if there are any. Also, skirt issue. Must fix.

Now, to hide under a chair with embarrassment. Away!

Yes, yes.. I know that I'm wearing a children's zorro mask and not goggles on my head, but I always found the anachronistic atmosphere of this image rather steampunkish. But maybe I'm the only one to see this. Hmm..

My girlfriend and I attended Salon Convention, and updated outfits for the event.  Good thing, too.  It was without a doubt the best-dressed convention I have ever been to.  And the tea was lovely.

Here we are together:

And some closeups:

My apolgies to everyone who loved the mustache and the eyepatch.  The eyepatch may return, but the mustache was properly swallowed by a beard, and I think all are better for it.

Me as a Pseudo Scottish officer at a local Sci/Fi Fantasy Convention wearing a WWI-WWII style Scottish Officer's cotton Khaki Service Dress tunic (bought from whatpriceglory.com) my blackwatch kilt with a handmade sporran, a glengarry and 1860's style glasses, and a white Russian belt that I need to swap out the buckle on, and a Victorian style dirk on my hip.

My ex and I had a joint birthday dinner party last weekend; the theme was "Come as a Time Lord" ... lots of fun ... half a dozen freaks in a very posh, intimate steak restaurant.

So yes, a little camera whoring was in order beforehand Grin

Since people have shared their kilt pictures, I feel inclined to share one of mine.

I think I took this picture because my lady friend demanded to see me in my kilt... And a few other friends of the female persuasion wanted to as well...

All I wanted was a test shot for the progress on my goggles, seeing as I had some other bits lying around I ended up dressing the part.

EDIT: Hmmm, I didn't realize the pictures were so big, I've put my last three behind the little spoiler thing, so as not hog the page.

Dash it all, why do all the cute ones my age live so far away?
If we were all in one spot, society would grind to a halt from collective jealousy!  Cheesy

Miss. Hereaftermouse, I hope you don't mind me saying, but you are a perfect little steam imp.  Smiley If I saw anyone dressed anything like that in my shopping center, I'd be all over 'em.  Cheesy So let then stare away. (They're just jealous anyway)

OK, here's round 2 on my outfit..... You're going to have to forgive me on the extremely low quality of the photos, it was late at night, and our kitchen doesn't have the best lighting.... Oh, and ignore the fact that I have on sneakers.  Shocked

I've added a few thing since the last photos, namely a military bag, belt and a small pouch, the missing pocket watch, a hat band to my hat, and a wonderful little jacket I found in a thrift store.. it's missing a few buttons, so I'll either have to find similar ones, or just replace them all with something else. Oh, and I replaced the cloth gloves with leather ones.. I think I like them better.

Here's the full outfit so far.

Here's one with out the bag, and the colors a little truer, but still a bit off
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One without the hat, and you can see the wonderful cuffs on the coat... compare to the picture above, and you can see how they can be flipped up or down.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And last, one without a hat or coat. Still now arm bands, I'm trying to find a fabric I like for them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Here is a tintype of my latest outfit.
Excuse the picture quality as it is the only surviving image from that ill-fated expedition.

I am trying for a safari outfit. You can't see it in the photo but my vest has giraffes and elephants in the pattern of the fabric.
I also need to add to my collection of accessories.

My husband and I met because of Star Wars costuming, but we quickly discovered our mutual appriciation for the Victorian era:

I'm also a corset enthusiast:

We also have a longterm project of steampunk styled Queen Victoria and Prince-Consort Albert, but that's a loooong time coming, concidering we're still mainly in the design stage. But I was pointed in the direction of this forum, so here I am. My husband should be joining me shortly, or alteast lurking around Wink
