Hello everybody, I've been looking around this fine community for the last few days.
Just thought I'd join to show you my first steampunk creation:

Very nice. The glass part in the middle - Tumbler? Saltshaker? - is a nice touch.

It was a perfume bottle... Glad you liked it.

I'm currently working on a cane and what i call a "Ætheric Communication Device".
I will post pictures as soon as they're finished  Smiley

One of the best "fake guns" I've ever seen!

ArsMechanica, may I ask you why you are using an Italian flag for the background of that pic (I'm asking because I'm Italian Grin)
Thanks.

Great work BTW... Wink

In my humble opinion the flag adds color and depth to an otherwise plain image.
Oh, and I was feeling a bit patriotic while taking photos  Grin

I looked at your gorgeous weapon through my aetheric goggles and noticed the wonderful interplay between the atomized alcohol vapor and the electrical fluid.  I wondered, when you fire your ray gun, do you often find an excess of Omega radiation streaming forth from junctures between metal and glass, or do you have some mechanism to compensate for this?

BLAST!

Every damned sidearm I look at on this forum looks magnificent... they are so detailed and authentic-seeming, the realism is quite outstanding.

...you guys are gonna make me feel silly when I post the ones I'm working on.

Top notch work, most impressive!

My only suggestion would be to perhaps invert the position of the scope? It seems to me that the end which is currently in the front looks more like an aperture into which one should look. I think this is because it narrows so close to the end. A telescopic device would not gain very much range in its field of vision by having an opening that widens so suddenly. Then again, perhaps simply adding a lens would do the trick.

Even as it is, the gun looks great! I absolutely love it!
