In the running for 'Coolest damn thing of 2008'

http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75436&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

You can see a bit of progress of the thing throught the post, and on the second page you can see it on the maker with full arms. Brilliant.

Also, this forum is a wealth of information for metalwork, leatherwork, and information on historical armours and weapons of near all periods and cultures. I highly recommend it, but do make the effort of perusing around or using the 'search' function before asking "How do I make a suit of armour?"  Wink

But where do you put your pocket watch?
Figure that out and it'd be prefect for the punk on the wrong side of the tracks.

This plate coat seems to be a good protection.
Is it raygun-proof ?

That is most wonderfull -I should most definitely like to own such a garment!
On another note, a slightly random muse: I often wonder if modern flak jackets could be more tailored, so as to provide a more contemporary dress uniform, with some degree of function? or perhaps alternately simply a kevlar waistcoat for less militaristic purposes, but a combination of styleishness & protection?

Oh & also Mr. O-Byrne, I believe that you may need to start a "Coolest damn thing of 2008" contest, after that remark Grin (I also think it'll win)

I'm sure I've seen this metal waist-coat before, maybe even in 2007, you may want to re-think it's entry in thier year's coolness contest Cheesy

I think it was posted here and on Steamfashion earlier this year, and the post on the linked page is dated 18th February 2008, so I think it probably scrapes in.

It is very cool. I love the mechanism of the "buttons"; it's really cute.
