Ahhh another citizen of the dirty waffles. I'm a Sandy native myself who has escaped the carnage that we all know as ... the horde filled swamps of south California.
Welcome and enjoy the journey ... make sure your seltbelts are fastened because the airship can jump about a bit!
And where did you escape to? I grew up in Montana, so this whole dirty city thing took some getting used to.

I do so miss mountains! If you are of a mind to imbibe, have a Moose Drool for me! It's quite difficult to get down here and one of the few beers I can enjoy.

Afternoon all. My name is Ben, I'm a photographer/artist living in West Yorkshire. Been into Steampunk for a little while and still properly immersing myself into the culture and background, and I've only properly got into doing work based around it this year. I've ended up exhibiting some pics in the exhibition at Bradford Industrial Museum, which has given me the impetus to get cracking on a project I've been meaning to do for a while- a sort of alternate history of Saltaire, with Steampunk technology photoshopped into artificially aged shots of the village. All the vehicles etc are done as models (and I'll be posting some pics in the relevant section of the forum when I get chance later), and in fact my practise of making everything as models is something I largely subscribe to watching too much Thunderbirds when I was younger. So anyway, looking forward to using this blog, and hello to you all

Greetings.
I am Jais, also known as Nemesis. I'm an 18 year old guy from Denmark. I'm really interested in the concept that is steampunk, yet I have not acquired proper clothing to properly present my person as a prim and presentable steampunk representative.
Anyway, I only joined recently, and will probably gain some board experience by examining a lot of posts before attempting to create any original quality content to this site.
Cheers, and see you around.

Welcome to You all who have found BG, and in the true spirit of the upcoming season of Brass/Xmas we can all rejoice and sing together:
Oh, brassy night, the cogs are brightly shining It is the night of our dear Doctor's birth Long lay the world in rust and acid, pining Till He appeared and the lab felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary lab rejoices For scientist breaks a new and glorious morn' Fall on your knees, oh, hear the Amper's voices Oh, night divine, oh, night when Tesla's born Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
A thrill of hope, as steamy world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn' push on the coals, oh, hear, hear the pistons' voices Oh, steam tonight, yeah, oh, night when Thom was born Oh, night divine, oh, night, oh night divine
Oh, night divine Oh, night divine Oh, night divine

Another West Yorkshire chap here - There must be something in the water, that or all those dark satanic mills.
I'm not so much of a one for the creation of artworks or brassy coggy goodness, but a demon with a needle, so I suspect I shall mostly be in Anatomical.

Hi everyone, I'm Jamie, from Columbus, OH in the US. I'm a computer programmer (web and database development) but my actual degree from college is in History, so my techie side combined with my love of the past is sort of what leads me to Steampunk. Steampunk is a genre that I've followed and enjoyed for a long time, but the concept of it as a subculture is still pretty new to me. I've always enjoyed Victorian-era fiction and alternate history type stuff, especially work where the introduction of a technological change into a historical era is the driving force. My favorite course in college was "Technology in History," sort of a survey course where we looked at tech discoveries and how they drove events of their time. I've also always "liked" science fiction, but space opera and the like was never my schtick. I always preferred Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, etc. like many of you probably have as well. And I got my steampunk on via computer games and the like (I spent many a happy hour gallivanting around the surface of Mars in the Ultima:Martian Dreams game, for example. Yes, I'm a tad older - b. 1968). And of course I read The Difference Engine and the whole nine yards. And I'd heard of the term "Steampunk" as a literary genre, so the name wasn't new to me. So while I never did cosplay or anything like that, nor was I even aware that such things really existed, I have been a happy lover of the genre for a long time - following the creation of Steampunk versions of comic book characters and some of the modeling and computer mods and the like. So imagine my surprise when, earlier this year, I was at our local science museum here in Columbus when I came across several Steampunk-cosplay-ers in full regalia who had come to see the " Adventure" exhibit. Needless to say, I was intrigued. And upon returning home, I hopped onto the computer to see what the heck was going on...and was introduced into the world that all of you have created. Neat stuff, and I'm loving it. So congratulations to all of you who've put this together... it's super-cool, and you should be proud. I look forward to discussions of this world with all of you. A bit more on me: I'm 43, a dad and husband, love outdoors, fitness, and health stuff, spy novels (I'm also a big James Bond fan), as well as Steampunk, and also work pretty hard on personal development stuff so that I can live the life I want. Thanks, Jamie

Welcome aboard! I came into steam from the SCA and was first attracted by the costuming and art . There are so many things to do in this wonderful genre that I think you will be busy for ages. Have fun!

Good day all! I have yet to decide if I will conceal the truth of my identity here, or simply remain anonymous behind Rhychtor. A nice chap, I hail from Kentucky in the United States, and am a 33 year old, twice-divorced (soon), father of 1. I have a love for most things taboo, alternative, and off-kilter. Steampunk holds a special place in my heart, and I hope to add to the community. As for Rhychtor...he is a perplexing individual, neither sinner or saint, an adventurer, tinker...not a gambler, but prone to take risks. The heart of a poet, and slick as any aristocrat...he doesn't look for trouble, but finds himself in it rather often I'm afraid...
With that, I bid you all good day. Cheers!

Hello I'll go by the name Gwen because it's my middle name and I like it better than my first. Well, only sometimes. I'm 18 and I've always loved steampunk. Before I knew what it was, I loved it. I guess I just mean that when I first heard the term, I immediately knew what it referred to. I could just picture the style in my head. You know, when you know you love something but you have no idea that it has an actual term? When I heard it I just knew that it applied to what it is...because the name just fit. I'm explaining this terribly. Anywho...I love to write, even though I tend to hate what I write. Well, when I try to write things the "right" way, it comes off as forced, whereas when I'm not thinking about what I'm saying, it flows really well. Kind of annoying. Um...my favorite show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm pretty sure that I lived my past life ranging from the 1800s to the 1930s. Maybe I was a vampire. Ha. I have an overactive imagination, I worry about stupid things, and I eat way too much cheese.

Australian of Irish descent, Polymath, Historian, Archaeologist, Librarian (i.e. clever clogs!). Somewhat older late to Steampunk, but thinking of 'doing' my home library out in Steampunk (when I can afford to build it, that is). Will have to steampunk a photographic representation shortly, to add to the biographical details.

Heyla folks. My name's Keith, and I'm seventeen years old, hailing from Colorado in the United States. I've drifted on and off the forum as a guest for the last few months, and finally got around to making an account. Tor's Steampunk Fortnight is what introduced me to this glorious world through the means of music, and ever since then it's been a simmering interest. I started working on my outfit a few months ago, and hope to have that finished sometime before my school year ends. I look forwards to getting to know the genre, this forum, and the people of it better in the coming months.

Greetings all Captain Robert Arthur Alexander Llewellyn MacLeod of the Airship Eldritch Rose at your service. So about the (real) me I am 29 from and live in Austin tx. I am fairly new to the steam punk work though it has interested me for some time. I guess i fall into a mix of ren punk and steam punk. but it works for me. Im interested in meeting others in my area if any are here and sharing ideas thoughts etc. About my ship the Eldritch Rose is a converted swan class sloop. We travel the world finding and "acquiring" rare and unusual artifacts and fine goods. sort of a pirate indiana jones in a steam punk world. Also its set a bit before victorian times the late 1700's and in an alternate history where the industrial revolution happened in the mid 1600's thanks to the inventions of Leonardo Di Vinci.

Good early hours of the morning.
I am without a persona, being neither writer nor roleplayer - I'll leave those posts to people able to use their imagination and string two sentences together. I'll be brief and simply introduce Myself.
I am from East Yorkshire; however, we only shuffled into the Humberside region during the last boundary re-jigging, so previous theorems up page concerning the West Yorkshire water might prove correct. Educated solely locally and only to secondary school level, I confess myself monoglot, monosyllabic and likely monotonous. I'd like to think it adds rural charm. My travelling options are limited: my bicycle acts old enough to have witnessed the Sacking of Rome so I never make it further than a few miles in any direction. My hometown offers in recompense riparian views and vintage port structures. If it offered vintage port I would be doubly satisfied but you can't get a good drink around here.
I apologise, that is no way for a married lady to talk. Twenty two years middling, a domiciliary carer by nature, one of nine children and avid collector of broken junk. Utilitarian Victorian is my mode (Being 'quite goth' it is in my nature to invent stereotyping labels where none exist / they are not necessary.), with the occasional fashionable thrill excuse me, frill and long-ceased-to-function superfluity. Like a samurai's daughter, I could boast a good heritage and currently impoverished position, but I shall not boast - it is unseemly in a lady.
I am not the most active of forum-trekkers, my linguistic spear being rather dull in comparison to seasoned expedition-goers and thus compells me watch from the safety of the bay windows. But I am often around and reachable by email.

Greetings to all- I go by Flynn Bloodfoot, a young lady from modest beginnings until I enrolled in the Guard. I now travel here and there with my regiment as Commanding Officer. I tinker with clocks, but my real passion lies with airships. Never a time gone by in which I don't feel free, up on an airship. I've got rather a penchant for victoriana styles, a young lady can never have too many dresses- not that they stay clean for long, in my line of work! That is all for now, friends, but I do hope to be in conversation with more of you soon. -FB
