Last week I stumbled upon this nifty chamber during a google search, after I had nearly abandoned hope of finding any brassgoggles chamber on the IRC network. While sheer happyness overwhelmed me when I found one, I must admit that disappointment struck to see the chamber as good as abandoned, spare two or three particular members of which I suspect them being part of the furniture by now.

I call upon Brassgoggle's forum members to come have a nice chatter on the IRC network, and bring some bliss and cheerful laughter once again! And actually, this thread is just shameless advertisement for the brassgoggles IRC room .

I'm afraid the whole IRC thing passed me by, but I use Pidgin to keep in touch with people so if somebody could point me in the direction of instructions in gaga terms I might manage to get going.

Aha! A volunteer. Worry not, it's surprisingly easy (I hope).

First, you need a client to be able to access the IRC network. I recommend XChat: http://www.silverex.org/download/ (a standalone application) or chatzilla: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16 (a firefox extension).
Once you installed and started the client of your choice, you should see an empty screen with a text input field. Type the following lines to join the channel:

/server irc.dal.net
(wait for it to connect)

/join #brassgoggles
(say something funny now)


There are ways to automatically join the channel in the future, but more details are available from members in the chatroom .

pidgin got option to use IRC
just configure it so it will connect to server irc.dal.net and add #brassgoggles as your buddy on the list

As usually happens, I log into these things and no one is on or no one is actually doing anything.

Please stay a littlebit longer  .
We see people come and go, only dropping the "hi, anyone here?" line.
If y'all stay for couple of hours, you'd actually meet eachother!
I'm there most of the day (GMT+1) but I can't be active 24/7 just waiting for you to join, you know .
If you check in regulary, more people will come eventually.

Also, there're plenty of other interesting rooms on the IRC network that do have well established communities!
Physics, chemics, the new steampunk MMORPG: AIR, your favorite game engine... you can all put them on together to have a bit more IRC action!

I think we can label these advertisements as a major success!
The chatroom chat traffic has been expanding by an astonishing 1400% in the last few days!
At an average of 2 lines a day before the advertisments, we now reach up to 1200 lines an hour on peek-moments.
We hope to see ever more activity in this cozy room.
