After reading the topic: Ray Guns VS Slug Throwers
http://brassgoggles.co.uk/bg-forum/index.php?topic=14180.0

I had to do something to stop the voices in my head from DEMANDING I make a "SLUG" Thrower. Here is the first step. The ammo:

Maybe some kind of slingshot-type thing?  Anything more forceful might kill the slug before it hits its target.

Exactly, a steam-powered brass RPG-like thing with the bottled slug in the nose as the payload.  It's for general-purpose use vs. undead, since the jar is filled with holy water and slugs leave silver slime trails and eat rot.

Next up: breeding the carnivorous, voracious, yet acceleration-resistant weapons-grade gastropod! This is great!

That's Brilliant!  The ammo is, of course, referred to as a Gastropod Shell....

If I remember correctly, the original idea for the "thrower", from the Ray Guns VS Slug Throwers thread was a wrist-mounted catapult.

However, whatever the launcher ends up being, I'm entirely positive it will be a superb piece of engineering.  Grin

RPG - Rocket Propelled Gastropod

Huzzah!

This is just too funny, therefore I retract my slingshot suggestion in favor of the Rocket Propelled Gastropod.

EDIT:  I just had the funniest mental picture, of a slug wearing a flight cap and goggles, with a tiny rocket pack strapped to its back, zooming off to battle...

Dude, I just laughed so hard that I scared my cat and started choking on my french fries.  That is about ten times funnier than my mental picture!  I can't wait to see the final product.

Then my work here is almost done. I wish I could figure out a way to do the cap. He will have a nice slime look when done.

Oh, Bravo for the Rocket Propelled Gastropod, just lovely.

Now then, for the final touch, the handheld launcher.  Do you know the name of the device used to launch fighter jets from aircraft carriers?  It is called a "steam catapult."  Truly.

And with this, the circle is closed and the Steampunk Slugthrower concept is complete.

Ye gods, what have I wrought?  I make one idle comment about catapulting toxic garden slugs, and this is the result?

You are mad, MAD I TELL YOU! This is why you were thrown out of Vienna, this is why you were banned from Paris, this is why the Pope has condemned no less than five of your inventions as offenses to the decency and wellbeing of mankind!
