In MY twisted history, the Bundeskrieg of 1866 ended with Prussia on the losing side and Bavaria on the rise due to American mercenaries with repeating rifles and unequalled marksmanship. Not the Carl Amery version with Ludwig II and Richard Wagner lost inside Ludwig's magnificent Reichsverweser castle at the Kyffhäuser, but the version with several small states still existing. Oh, and different Hannover hereditary law allowing women to inherit the throne leading to Victoria being Queen of Hannover.

So weit, so gut. Gibt es eigentlich sonst noch wen aus der Heide? Oder mindestens aus Niedersachsen?  Also ich komme ursprünglich aus Hameln... ihr wißt schon, Rattenfänger und so. Fahre da auch alle paar Monate hin und mache dann meist auch einen Abstecher zu Freunden in Hannover. Ok, but you didn't get the best part either. Partially you were a prussian province or should I say - you are? What are you talking about? My history is much the same. Only Friedrich III is in very goo health (no cancer there), on very good terms with the British Empire (historic fact), less keen on colonies but very keen on showing presence around the world. Although I would love to meet fine folks from here whenever possible, my present battle against a wallet-inhabiting black hole forbids that for the time beeing. (Hm, I wonder if any mad creative scientist has ever invented a device that would solve that problem... one could earn a fortune with this thing!  ) But I am curious, rokkitgurl: where in Nordrhein-Westfalen are you? The city of Minden perhaps? |

And to keep it on topic for the Geographical category.............I'll be visiting Berlin (meiner lieblings Stadt! ) from 26th-29th November to polish off lots of Glühwein in celebration of my birthday! Anything of steampunk interest or events/meet-ups happening around then? Unlikely I guess, but here's as good a place as any to find out!! I've visited Berlin many times and done most of the main attractions, so it would be good to hear of anything different to visit, particularly if its of steampunk interest. Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch sprechen aber meine Grammatik ist sehr schlecht.  Ich bin zufrieden dass ich meistens deutsche Nachrichten hier verstehen kann! |

Aahhh, Heimatland, Muttersprache....
Ich bin in Prien a. Chiemsee geboren und in Oberbayern aufgewachsen, wohne allerdings seit einiger Zeit am schönen Bodensee und studiere in Glasgow, Schottland. Schön zu sehen, dass es doch wenigstens ein paar von uns in Deutschland gibt!

I was born in Prien at Lake Chiemsee and grew up in Upper Bavaria, but have now lived at lovely Lake Constance for a while and study in Glasgow, Scotland. Nice to see that there are at least a few of us in Germany!

Hello fellows I'm German as well (well i was born in Romania, and my family belonged to the Germans who once went there, like Don Quijote said) but i have only German ancestors, and my parents came back to germany when i was 2 years old, so I only know about 2 or 3 Romanian words I'm from the south of Germany, and live very close to Reutlingen, which is only about half an hour from Stuttgart, which all of you should have heard of |
