Hugh, I thought it was a Family Guy reference. In one of the endless Star Wars ripoffs Peter says that to Louise after she calls him a nerf herder.

Note: already posted in it's own thread, but I thought I should make sure its in the official thread. I just finished her at the end of last semester, but havn't managed to make a good home for her on the web until now. The raygun features a 150mW Violet Laser (the kind of laser emitter you find inside a Blu-Ray Player), a Uranium Glass Emitter Array (powered by UV LEDs), and a Purple Heart Wood grip. A test firing. A full photo tour of her construction can be found HERE

Mallin - seriously cool work there! The fact it is a ray gun that ACTUALLY FIRES A RAY! is mighty impressive to begin with.
Then there is the fact that you are so good at crafting parts, coming up with cool ideas like the uranium glass marbles, and putting electronics together.
Amazing stuff - wow - well done!

Today I was privileged to see the Maduncle working in his natural habitat (the workshop), and we constructed a fearsome weapon! In progress pics: Expect evidence of the completed article soon!

Ah Mr. Rin - you would be speaking of the 'Rowanofski 7210' - the first item to be built as part of my newest project... ... the 'Gentlemans Own Plutionian Adventure Kit'. This weapon, along with appropriate protective eye wear and other important expiditionary gear will all be housed in the old shotgun box I got today at the flea market. I am not sure about the red lens, I think I will change it for a gauge in the sphere. And Rowan - no lights!

It is in fact the centre ball of a three armed chandelier, nice and solid, about a 3mm wall thickness so it doesn't dent and it takes thread cutting. I have since moved the red lensed knob off the front and added a lamp cup instead of the brass ball above the handle. I plan to find a vacuum tube to fit in the lamp cup. Then I need to make an appropriate spherical trigger, to replace the crap toggle switch I fitted in front of the handle (might use the red lensed knob as the trigger - just press the lens to fire).

I finally completed my large bounty hunter gun. It’s designed to be three weapons in one. Besides the gun, it has an attached blade that can be electrified for stunning and a grenade launcher. The grenades are carried on a bandolier, and would contain a variety of ordinances such as explosive charges, gas, smoke, etc... Now, I just need to complete the rest of the costume!

another nerf makeover. not sure what the wood is I made the grip from, wish I had some more of that black walnut left! the radiation symbol is the end of a spool of thread cut off and placed over the area the round nerf moniker sat. the nut around it is a metal sink pipe nut. I have another setting for the opposite side. once the paint is good, I will seal the red and yellow paint so its glossy and glue it all down. still need to find an idea for the notched out area under the barrel, at first I was going to continue the angled bar going up to the barrel. needs something there. the maverick is taking longer, I got a little carried away cutting up the frame, but it still works! its hard to see but I added a nozzle to the front, sort of like a maxim machine gun. obviously the dart doesnt come out it but it looks good anyways. the grip is going to be complicated. I need to add a metal plate to connect the wood to the plastic so that the trigger will still work. I still want to cut up the cocking slide, too big and too modern looking. I have some metal lamp finials, sort of shaped like nipples. I plan to add one to each side of the slide where the serrations are. then you grab them to cock the gun, gives it a sort of luger cocking knobs look.

I quite like what you did to the maverick As far as changeing the slide...How about removing the tactical rail? That'll do a lot of good, I wager
