Well, HUZZAH! Nice helmet!

I'm going to make my own, I've sourced a fibreglass WWII 'coalscuttle' style helmet as a base, and it's going to be for a zeppelin admiral...

MWA-HA-HA!!!

Wink

Is it sensible for a man who rides in a balloon to have a bloody great spike on top of his head?

No.

And my helmet will have a very special spike, that will not puncture the envelope, and will act as a fire extinguisher.

PS: Isn't there a movie where a Tueton in a Pickelhaube punctures his own airship? Is it the classic 'The Assassination Bureau'?

I've always thout that having a pointy hat on a zeppelin would be double trouble- apart from the possibility of rupture (OUCH!), there's always the chance of a lightning strike, as electrickery likes a pointy metal spike...

Perhaps we are seeing the origins of a new steampunk expression:
"He was as nervous as a pickelhaube-wearer in a Tesla-coil lab"
Useful if someone decides to write a steamed version of Mickey Spillane.

That's good leatherwork. Did you make it or is it an original? I think some of them were leather, originally.

From a photoshoot today. Kinda 1920s-ish (someday I will find a photographer who wants to make me into a pretty steampunk lady and take pics, but 1920s is fun too!).

Indeed you do! You look very much like the original "It Girl," Clara Bow. Considered by many of the day to be the most beautiful (and certainly the most popular) female movie star of the late silent movie era, she was a stunningly beautiful woman.

I can't think of any fancy way to say it, other than to just stare and mumble, you're really pretty.  And the 20s look really suits you.  I also suspect you'd look fabulous in 1940s styles.

Not my work unfortunately. I have a problem with arthritic fingers.
I got it off ebay. This is a similar one...

Thank you! Though I think the makeup and lighting do a lot of the work, hehe. And I have done 1940s style pinup (with the same photographer). These shots are from a couple years ago (when I still had long hair).

I love pinup style, but the poses required hurt like a mother (but you have to smile through it anyway). I think overall I prefer modelling in the 20s style because it can be a little more experimental, but I do still love artist like Gil Elvgren.

Also, holy crap, I am really white, haha.

All of the sudden I feel like boarding a B-17 and flying to a foreign country to bomb the crap out of it!
Those poses are fantastic! Shocked
