I just finished these today. I may tweak them some more but pretty much done.

Very nice! Might you tell us a bit about their construction?

Here's a side view. The oculars are made with 2" brass end caps like what is use in brass rails for bars and restaurants. The sides of the cups are made with .016" shim stock. The Eye socket padding is brown vinyl weather strip. Plus a hand full of copper rivets.

A source for brown Pleather would be most welcomed.

Do you happen to know if you can order online and have them ship your purchase or do you have to visit one of their stores?

Tandy allows you to order online and they'll ship to you. At least, that's the way it used to work back when I was into leatherworking. They have some really cheap peices of leather and some really expensive ones. I doubt their policy has changed much, so yes, you should be able to order online and they'll ship it out.

Alright, thanks for the information, now maybe when I make my goggles I wont have to settle for hacking apart thrift store belts... Not that there is anything wrong with that...

Nothing wrong with that... though I'm sure it would be cheaper to order from them. Unless I'm mistaken you order in square yards and I think they cheapest square yard leather they have is only 3$ USD. One thing to remember though is if you order online there's no guarantee as to the quality of the leather, so it could have scars on it. Personally, I drive there as much as I can (hour and a half drive from my house) so I can hand pick the leather and get the best quality I can for the price.

Well, for me it would be either a 2 and a half hour drive or a 3 or 4 hour drive to the nearest one, let alone trying to find it afterwards. A few scars should be ok, it would give it character.
Speaking of leather scars A mentor of mine told me once that one of his friends bought a leather couch that had branding marks on it. He called the company to see if it was normal, only to have the sales associate apologize and offer to replace the couch. Mentors friend responded with, "No, I like it, I just figured I'd let you know."

Nice, personally I would actually take the replacement couch (if they didn't ask for the old one back first) and cut out the branding mark from the couch...
However, when it comes to furniture anything with scars is actually a bad thing, but for steampunk crafts, how we use leather, a few scars on a piece of leather wouldn't hurt a thing as they can be easily cut around depending on the size.
