I just read in the new National Geographic that astronauts have Velcro inside their helmets to scratch their noses! Too funny!

Sir, you are too kind! Never let it be said that I don't listen to my peers: You're all quite correct, horizontal looks much more Victorian! Thank you!

I'm hoping to get some brass finished shower hose for flexible pipe, and I'll be soldering up some copper pipe for the air cyinders at some point. {if this thread should go 'quiet' for more than a week, do give me a nudge!}

This is looking great! I don't suppose it will be ready in time for the Dinosaur Safari on Saturday will it? It would certainly attract a few second glances from passers by.

Not sure I'm brave enough to go out amongst the Not We wearing it, even with a crowd of like-minded lunatics individuals! Of course you're brave enough! You even oughta hand out 'moist towellettes' in the little square packages and say you're giving them for their comfort during their final stages. Also tell them, "If you're dying due to "The Periwinkle Death" pandemic, there's no reason to look as though you are."

Looks like the helmet is coming along quite nicely. Can't wait to see it once you have added all the finishing touches.

Well, today I learnt how to solder copper pipe- WOO-HOO! I'll never have to use compression joints again! Apart from the two on my air tanks, that is: Also got some counter sunk machine screws to hold on the tank mounts, and added some bracing with 'rivet' detail. And the tanks on the helmet: More to come...

How the brackets are held onto the helmet...I do not know, sir...Looks a tad flimsy to me, in comparison to the tanks.

A picture says a thousand words: Two thicknesses of ABS tube, filled with resin, with a 4mm machine screw, extra large washers inside the helmet, with ABS grommits: The tanks themselves are lightweight, and the mountings are much stronger than they look, but I won't be going on a marathon in it!

Magnificent! So many extraneous gimcracks one could add a project of this sort-- can't wait to see the next stage. Personally, I'd go for some gold-leaf scrollwork around the glass edges, and maybe a separate targeting reticule on a swivel mount....?
Ooh, and a tiny airlock for docking one's pipe, encased in its own tiny "helmet" around the bowl! OK, I'll shut up now. <swigs medication, looks thoughtful, pours another.>

Good sir, I don't doubt they are strong enough to hold the tanks, but to me they look like they aren't Or in other words, perhaps they could be beefed up, purely for good looks.
