For'ard visibility is... within tolerances; but I wouldn't want to walk along a cliff edge! Smiley

It's a work in progress, much more detail is to be added; dials, pipework, and, of course, MORE RIVETS!
Thankfully, there are very few cliffs in space.

Current plan, after a night cogitating, is to have LEDs to illuminate the interior, round, chrome bezel warning lights on the chest plate, oxygen tanks on the back with soldered copper pipework, and lots of rivets!

Yes, I have to hold my hands up to the Robbie the Robot comparisons, but if your going to steal, steal from the best!

OH! But the oxygen tanks should run into the helmet with a big, obvious hose that any hostile space aliens/monsters could easily sever but for some reason never do. It's an important cliche, to ignore it would be...well...fine, I suppose.

You are a hero of invention!

Is the doem glass or plastic - I couldn't see if that was mentioned.

Some nice Victorian flourishes / scrollwork would work on the yolk bit.  Would you consider painting the yolk to resemble wood?

That truly is all sorts of awesome!

Perhaps you could add two extending 'scissor arms' operated from outside the helmet; one with a little clawed hand on the end to scratch your nose, the other with a small brass hand holding a handkerchief to dab your forehead when it gets toasty inside.. Cheesy

That would work just as well as a diving bell or volcano heat shield too, don't you think?  Sort of an all purpose hazardous environment protection.

Yes, a similar thought had occured to me, so it would be a multi-purpose hazardous environment helmet (and suit, if I can find a good set of canvas overalls!)

Simply Amazing!

As a multi-use hazard suit, will there be interchangeable accessories and gadgetry for differing environs?  (e.g. leaded boots for diving)

Thanks for the interest!

Have managed a little more today- air tanks:

4" ABS pipe with push moulded styrene end caps, I've also added a false 'overlap' to the pipe, so I can stick rivets on it; the smaller one is for the front of the helmet; here's a quick mock up of how they might look:

Of course, it still needs some brass or copper pipework, and lots of other little details...

I'd like to see those tanks mounted horizontally, just to be even more unexpected and less SCUBA like.
