First I want to say hello, I've been checking out the site for awhile and I finally made an account and a post.

I've been working on a new character for my crew and I want to do an Persian-inspired get-up, but I've had a lack of creativity. If you've got any pointers, pictures, or ideas I could really use the inspiration.

Hmmmm....
I really wouldn't know where to begin, but I can tell you what NOT to wear. Don't add anything to the costume that resembles explosives or weapons . I'd also be careful about wearing anything that might cover part of your face, if you intend to wear any type of Middle-Eastern clothing. While I hate to admit it, wearing clothing like that here in the USA can attract unwanted attention from certain types of people. I have a friend from India who is harrassed quite often for the way he dresses (and his beard and accent). Not all Americans would react in a negative manner, but considering the way things are here, I myself would not wear anything that might cause someone to possibly mistake me for a terrorist. However, if you could stay somewhere along the lines of a Steampunk Aladin or Prince of Persia type costume, then I think there are several options. Do an image search on google for "Prince of Persia, Sands of Time". I'm sure you will see some costume ideas.

You might start out looking at one of those huge costume books that has a survey of everything from the dawn of time to the present in them - and narrow in on the time-frame you're looking to be inspired from - it should make finding photographs or paintings for a more in-depth look easier.

You´d probably need to consider what time period you´re going for. Prince of Persia is probably the wrong time, though I´ve been told despite the name it looks more arab than persian.

What about the outfit Apl.De.Ap from the Black Eyed Peas is wearing in the video for 'Meet Me Halfway'?

Suitably steampunk-ish?

Thanks for all the awesome tips. My creative juices are flowing now.

You´d probably need to consider what time period you´re going for. Prince of Persia is probably the wrong time, though I´ve been told despite the name it looks more arab than persian.

The rest of my crew is pretty much Victorian-inspired.  I'm no trying to be historically perfect, rather just a general middle eastern look.

Major, that outfit is rocking, gave em a lot of ideas.

You could always mix in a bit of Tusken Raider from Star Wars.

It might also be worth looking into the acivities of a certain T.E. Lawrence for inspiration for Arab/British  fusion in more or less the right sort of historical context.

Here's a little something I found.
Just the basics, and really nothing but a description, but a decent place to start.
