They appear to be excellent for oogling the ladies...."I'm not staring down your corset, ma'am, it's just the goggles....." One could also get away with dozing off during lengthy anecdotes. Those lenses you can see through well enough to not bump into people but that's about it. I'm surprised since I've got a pair of "sunglasses" that have a similar blinds-like lens to them and I see out of them almost perfectly. Real brass. I'm probably not allowed to be smug that my homemade goggles have no visible plastic bits considering what they're made from... Ends of beer cans, cut off and cut into. Lenses out of ginger beer bottle and gaffered in. Leather bits sewn together, glued on. All very primitive and all chronicled in greater detail here for those who are curious. Am needlessly and unjustifiably proud of them. Still need to take them off.

I apologize for being so late, but here's the finished Halloween mask/costume as I promised: I'm aware it's not terribly great, but be gentle with me.

Is it based on something? All original design, this is the last I'm doing actually, as next year it's off to college. The reason I'm in a glasses shop is because I had the fellow make the custom lenses for the glasses and he requested I at least bring in the finished mask, I surprised him by coming in fully dressed.

you look like one of the Cenobites in Hellraiser (All) The works of Clive Barker are seminal sources of inspiration for me. This particular costume was largely inspired by the works of John Dyer Baizley, Clive Barker's Tortured Souls and, as always, dreaming. Thanks for your kind words, everyone.

If a Cenobite walked into a bar in Mos Eisley, that's how it would be dressed. Well done! And no, I do not have a punchline for that first sentence, but feel free to make one up.

I can't remember if I've posted my goggles before so here they are. They aren't fully finished but I've finished the decoration of the fabric sections. They are a pair of ww2 goggles that I go from Ebay.

I've not made them yet, but I have some plans for a very basic monogoggle that has to do with a jam-jar lid, plug chain, plastic lenses, and lots of metallic gold paint.

I've got to try making me a pair of those beer goggles. Made from a wee buckle, possibly off shoes but found in a car park, bits off earrings and leather from a pair of trousers. His ears go through the holes. Made from more trouser leather, a washer, an eyelet and a tube from something very small off a car. You could actually see through them if I hadn't stuck black fabric over the back to stop them from scratching anything. Originally made for my silver skullhead ring for the purpose of covering the pictogram on its forehead. Started on Sunday, finished today. Made from a suede heel grip dyed with black and orange fountain pen ink (turned out green for some reason), two wee metal screw lids, yet more trouser leather, paper fasteners, buckle off a watch and two dark circles cut from a flattened section of a hairspray lid. With obligatory pocket watch (currently non-functional). Now I just need some big enough for my head.
