I'm sure a lot of you recognize this picture and remember grinning widely at it! I've seen a lot of this style a handful of times here, but of course I'm looking for this EXACT pair! Worn by Billy Connolly/Il Duce aka the Ghost in Boondock Saints. What can you guys tell me?

Thy look like a more modern version of my military sunglasses. Mine have leather side cups and crude wire arms that curl round the back of the ear.

I own a pair of small sunglasses/welding goggles almost exactly like that But they are smaller and less chunky looking - they have wire arms and mesh sides, but they are very bloody similar indeed. I'd be willing to sell them but you could probably find something better with a bit of searching because the goggles worn by Doctor Steel are called wilson welding goggles and they look even more similar to those. Oh also, I suggest similar things because its unlikely you will ever find a pair EXACTLY like any old goggles you see because they are all pretty unique and rare.

Willson (I believe it's properly spelt with two 'l's, but frequently seen on Ebay with one) glasses are similar, there's another similar manufacturer... Kings? Something like that.

You'll want to avoid the Kings brand, and Saniglas as well. Too narrow, the lot of them. The metal side pieces press into the skin on the face, terribly uncomfortable. Out of the half-dozen or so I've accumulated in this style, the best by far are Whitworth goggles. They fit comfortably on the face, without leaving any marks, and look damnably awesome. Those made be the Welsh Manufacturing Co. are rather good as well, but the lenses are a bit too large (and red) for my tastes. Regards, QG

no pics yet but I just ordered a shipment of german welding goggles which are on sale YAYY!!!!!
actually, the guy in the page before me spray painted some of the same exact ones.
so I plan on modifying some of them....
I'm thinking....a dark leather rim with white fur, tinted lenses, and a strip of Red velvet-ish material on them..perhaps, not sure...
don't wanna get too intricate, I'm a nub for goggles.
I also want to make some spikey and....delicious

Post apocalyptic goggles. They have flip-top lenses which are dark (perfect for if I want to weld things together on my airship or protect my eyes from bright sunlight).

I have a more similar hat, actually (I'll try to get a photograph of it), but alas those sunglasses are no more.

Made this pair out of scraps and junk left over from other projects. I'm not sure if they're quite steampunk, but this seems to be the place to show them. I started with an old pair of brazing goggles I used for eye protection on my motorcycle. The leather is left over from a motorcycle seat I recovered. The roughcut edges have since been trimmed for a cleaner look. The vents are covered with Winchester 45 auto headstamps used in my jewelry making, and affixed through the primer pocket with weird red fasteners I found in my shop. The lens coverings are cut from a piece of gutter guard leftover from my home renovation, and a fancy gold colored sheet metal I used when making a speaker cabinet for a customer that would fit in with the antiques that furnish the rest of his house. The guard on the nose chain is a .22 long rifle casing that would normally be thrown in the recycling bucket, but instead had the rimfire headstamp cut off and the shaft put to use. They look cool on me and more than expected can be seen through them. Not bad for eating up an hour of boredom in the slow season.

Right here. http://www.georg-schmerler.de/e.produkte.php?aktion=1&cat=1 Scroll down a bit and you'll see plenty of options in those and other goggles, and his prices are pretty good. He's in Germany, and the English translation link for his site is a Brit flag so I figure he sells to your part of town. He won't deal in the US due to some silly insurance issue.

Georg Schmerler only sells in units of ten, and only to people with a business permit. I'm in the process of getting one, for the sole purpose of exporting these goggles worldwide.

ElShoggotho, I would also be interested in knowing when you have the goggles available, and at what price for delivery to a UK address.
RC, many thanks for the link!

you can buy those german goggles from pawstar.com as well, with the flat lenses.
they're the standard "uber goggles" on there and...although they're a bit more expensive, I believe it's to cover the cost that...pawstar resides in wisconsin, and they import from germany, because they buy wholesale.

Thank you - but I have to be a little careful ordering from the US, as if the value exceeds 25 dollars, HM Customs and Excise add a charge for VAT, and for some reason, the Royal Mail add a charge too, as I discovered when I ordered a 27 dollar belt the other month. Ordering from the EU, VAT is included in the price.

Got any sweets left over from xmas? Quality street and Roses have those clear plastic films around the sweets, in many colours (red green blue yellow brown orange) if you wet the quality street ones they become more maleable, press them on to lenses and dry over warmth to get coloured lenses!

Nah - it's the polarized lenses I'm after - 3D cinema uses the polarized glasses much more than the red and green of yesteryear. I wanted some goggles that I could wear to the cinema!

I actually received a pair of those German goggles from my fiancee for Christmas... not sure where she got them from, but it's possible that they're from Restoration Hardware.
