Has anyone seen this version of the 2005 War of the Worlds?

The acting is bad, and the effects are terrible, but the intent is there.

They released that one on video a week or two before the Tom Cruise version hit the theatres, but I tend to try and avoid the straight to video imitations of blockbuster movies.

Well, I think that it is a good flick if you are the type to want to see a movie instead of read a book for school, as it is very close to the original Wells account, otherwise, don't expect to be significantly entertained.

According to the Wiki article, this version of the movie was pitched to Paramount long before the concept of the Tom Cruise movie. It is unfortunate that this version did not have the budget of the others one.
