Wind fills my lungs
forcing me to breathe
forcing its way through reluctantly open lips
I fly
because gravity dares not touch me
I scorn this dirt
I fly on machinations
on iron wings and gouts of flame
I am no debtor
to be lifted on a loan of weightlessness
nor am I some disciple
to soar on the wings of angels and demons
I am but man
and I will chase this sky
until my fuel is spent
and the ground rises up to embrace me
For birds may have wings
But men have
Jetpacks.
