I got bored tonight and decided to go back to using PHP to generate images, and I though what better thing to generate then some gears.  So I created this little page that allows you to put in some parameters and get out a nice little gear of no more than 400px x 400px.  I'm sure I'll be refining this in the future, but thought I'd share it with everyone here.  If you have any suggestions let me know.

UPDATE:  Added the ability to change the axel diameters and tidy'd things up a bit.

PS - I haven't set any restrictions, so you can create some funky stuff that isn't gearlike at all.  I'll eventually set up a few failsafes here and there, but it's time for bed soon.

Very cool. Mind if I use one as part of my picture/logo/thing here?

Go ahead, thats what it is here for.  I'll probably be making a version that generates better images at some point, right now it's a bit "sloppy" persay.

That's a nice bit of work there Mr E!

I've been doing some minor experiments designing lateral views of working gears. Your welcome to have the image ready file if you desire.

*sniffs* this reminds me of a great plugin for 3ds max that i once had that made gears almost the exact same way, but that was for max 4 and won't work with the newer versions.
there's a script that works really well that i use but its not the same as having it directly in the menu (i hate making my own buttons, its just a hassle so i don't bother with it)
