Ahoi

My so far coolest steampunk (I admit it looks a bit too modern and streamlined) rifle, with lots of lights,
working laser, spinning muzzle. 1.2m long and I think around 18 poounds of pure....weight...or awesomeness. Thats yours to decide.

Lovely! I like the way it looks just right... heavy and dangerous -as though it would go *THOOM* and spoil the future of one's target.

And make a great sound whilst doing it! (also *THOOM!*, I think.  Cheesy ).

Very nice!!

*THOOM* is a good word for it. No time for the aesthetics of such a weapon if you are on the wrong end of it - certainly spoil your breakfast!!

Thanks guys.
I was actually holding it imagining the laser was powerful enough to melt walls, while mumbling THOOOOM...until I noticed,
its kinda weird to do that :p the laser is powerful enough to burn a hole into your shirt, so its not totally weird and off though.

That is amazing. It is worthy of appearing in TV or films.

It's undoubtedly breathtaking if you call it Super Troopers. But where is the "steam" spirit of the Victorian 19th's era ?

Why do you start argueing about an ART form -.- you act like there are rules for it.
If you want to solder together an old warming flask and an old spray gun call it steampunk after glueing some gears on,
fine. To me, its brass, wood, steel, copper. I dont see the need of curvy handles that feel unnatural. If you dont like my
style, fine with me, just dont try to convince me. The Tesla from Warehouse 13 is steampunky, without the freaky curvy
weird shapes. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/06/be/7a/06be7a60fe060d2be77e0e0a476139a6--steampunk-weapons-steampunk-gadgets.jpg
Cool, yes, but while mine looks like a copper and brass version of the district 9 rifle you have posted up there, that one looks like the
copper and brass version of a 40ies sci fi weapon.

I always felt Event Horizon / DeadSpace was borderline SP. This more easily fits the ticket than either of those, though.

I'd love to see this thing with an ornate leather carry-strap. Like a shoulder-strap, I guess, considering its weight.

Im never up for a fight, but if you start one, I am in...specially over such stupid reasons. I dont make them for fun,
the guy who orders a  classic steampunk build will get one, but that very guy likes my personal style.

And yes, I will upload a video in a few days I guess. I would have posted a short video on steampunk tendencies,
but the group is down right now. No idea why.

Coonvert the short URL to a long URL. Then remove the "s" in "https://" and the video will magically embed in your post.

You need to convert to a long URL first

i.e.

Just as an aside, steampunk can, in my head at least, encompass many styles. There is what I think of as "steamgrunge": Heath-Robinson creatively cobbled together hardware with a purely functional aesthetic; there is "diamondpunk" (a reference to Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age) which is refined artisan craftsmanship in the Victorian style and with Victorian materials. I would say this gun fits in the latter category. But it all works for me. Smiley

Meh, I am not really a fan of drawers and under-under-class thinking, but like I said,
I am not a fan of the "classical" steampunk, an "old" spraygun glued to an old warming flask. Meh².
My stuff on the other hand looks a bit too new sometimes :p no doubt about it. This one here is not
fancy enough, bit too sleek.

As long as you don't just stick some cogs on it and call it steampunk, you're doing OK. Smiley
