Our humble table has room for everyone with an empty stomach!

****HAPPY THANKSGIVING!****

Please have a seat! And remember, you pass the food in a counter-clockwise direction!

Thanksgiving food: What did the Pilgrims eat?

Not quite 17th. Century, but still rather interesting are the Jas. Townsend and Son videos about 18th. C cooking. Tells you how food evolved in a century after the first colonies, and noting there was no uniform Thanksgiving day or festival in the United States, until George Washington's proclamation...

Sadly, I'm spending it alone tonight. Add to that a "Gaah!" for the day which probably should go on the other thread, but I'm sure some of you will relate.

So I had to get some kitchen towels. Naturally all shops are closed, save for the local Walmart. So I walk there, and I find that they're on "Black Friday Eve Lockdown." the store is open alright, but they have cordoned off all the major aisles and instead they have plastic wrapped pallets full of random discount stuff I would not normally buy even at discount...

To make a long story short, they had about 5 police men guarding about 10 pallets of products, and everything else was inaccessible. This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. So if you're up for half price Wrangler jeans, Rubbermaid Tupperware or a flat screen TV, this is your day. If you want kitchen towels and a bar of soap, this is not your day.

One of these times you'll need to come down to Houston, Admiral. Bound to be a better job market down here, if for no other reason. And a belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and everybody else!
