I was out for an evening walk when a gentleman dressed completely in black with a top hat and long cape stepped from the shadows to approach me.

"Are you for Pure Good, or Pure Evil?" he asked.

Startled, but sure of my answer I responded "For the good."

"Then please good sir, take this device, it is The Steamy Heart, guard it at all costs!" he exclaimed.

I accepted it from him and asked him where he was from and what the device does.

He replied "I'm from a parallel dimension to yours. This device is so powerful that I couldn't let it fall into Hatred's Realm, and Hatred can't follow me here."

He further explained "The device is powered by a vortex of steam flow which empowers the central crystal to emanate pure love."

"Hatred wants to destroy it! You must protect it!" he pleaded.

"I must go now. Take care my good man." and with that he vanished back into the shadows.

What a fantastic item!

What is at the centre?  Looks like a crystal of some kind.

It's a spherical crystal of some sort, clear, like a diamond, and thank you for the compliment.  Smiley

Perhaps I'm overly romantic (or my eyesight is under-corrected), but the manufacturer stamp markings suggest roses, or lillies to me.

I think it's grand. A fantastic find.

Thank you Logik.  Smiley

They do kind of look like roses or lillies in the picture. Smiley

I've decided to offer this Steamy Heart, my first piece of Steampunk artwork, on ebay.

Here's the link to the thread in the Trading section of the forum.
