Quick answer. Unless anybody has any particular objections, whatever you like, basically.
The village blacksmith can presumably make sharpened agricultural implements, or the crazy little lady who runs the village shop might have a Gatling-guns & Grenades section out the back.
Or, as per his description, Mr Lowe might "know a bloke..." ".

Quick question.  How prevalent are weapons such as firearms or swords in this town (is there a gunstore)?  Also, how does Beans-on-Toast gets the goods it doesn't manufacture itself? How about an postal/supply airship that docks at the post office once every fortnight?

Beans-on-Toast has a train station and an Airship dock, It is a small village and only has one main street. There is one train that comes daily at 8 in the morning and 7 in the evening. The mail is usually delivered on the morning train. There is no pre-set schedule for any airships, as the dock is more of a fuel stop than it is a station.

While there are no exclusive weapons shops, there is a small machine shop that will allow you to use their tools for a fee to make whatever you want. The Pub-keeper has also been known to have some rifles in one of the cupboards in case fights break out.

The total population of Beans-on-Toast is around 5,000. Higgsbury Manor is located two miles away from the village center.

Thank you most kindly. So if I were to require something unconventional or specialised I would send a note or a telegram and have the item mailed to me by train or by airship.

Quincy is now coming back to the manor, on foot this time because of lack of promethium to power the kadmiral von Kippers. Also invented the town mechanic/ blacksmith

Since the blacksmith is apparently a Scot, I propose his name will be "MacClaggen".

Worked outside, got too hot, recovered and went to Tandy Leather store for wallet kit (wallet is falling apart, it's only seven years old but has been through every kind of hellish weather and sweat known to mankind - frequently). Also taking care of Folks and making sure Dad doesn't go out and get heatstroke again/Mom doesn't try to climb the stepladder like Mt. Everest. Will post something as soon as I can catch my breath (lol)...

Character Name: Gwendolyn Suthers
Age:33
Occupation:Folklorest and part time witch
Favorite Academic Subject: history and linguistics
Brief Description:Small in stature with blond curls that are often in disarray over her pointed ears.  Gwin often wears sturdy clothes and is used to living outdoors. She is never without her gold compass and atleast one mirror. Her eyes are green as a bower and prone to crinking when she laughs.  Gwin has been dealing with her ancestoral travel curse all her life and has devloped many little tricks to get by without it bothering her much but that does lead to a bit of odd behavior. Like walking backwards to most places or tieing herself to the bed so she can't wander off in her sleep

Miss Suthers can now introduce herself fully and be announced, or just bluff her way through to meet the young Miss directly.

The two gents can sort out who gets which room.

The plumbing seems safe - for now anyway. It may get worse later.
It was more to show Lowe as being protective of Miss Emily, to the expenditure of strangers if needed.

Better that you introduce yourself after tidying up, as I have no idea what is in the letter, of course.

I think the curse is a double whammy.  It often plays tricks with Gwin's eyes so she gets turned around and when it really bad she may telaport if untethered.  I also think the curse might have misfired and got the thing in the pipes lost for a bit.  Every now and then it helps Gwin out of dangerous situations but it is too unpredictable to count on.

Mordavo's on his way; in actuality I got roped into mowing the lawn and spreading fungicidal fertilizer (Dad can't operate the spreader with his current gout-cum-arthritis situation), but in the game, I think probably Gwin's curse acted on him via his own relatively-new supernatural wiring, etc. He'll be along in a minute, though, as it's nearly impossible to foul up his sense of direction once his werecoyote nose kicks in. But be warned: he might be somewhat "zoomorphic" in appearance when he shows up (lol)...

Not sure if Miss Emily remembers Mordavo's physical appearance from the night before (snout, yellow eyes, hairier and lighter-haired, etc.), or if it made any impression on her. Unflappable as she appears to be, at least outwardly, it might not have, I suppose.

I thought we should all gather in the Study to see if there is a campaign plan.

Are we to search the morass for a specific artifact that has a purpose?
Or will the tale be more episodic as various odd knicknacks are unearthed?
Or is there an external threat to the collection that must be thwarted....?

Perhaps there is unfinished business from the late lord that will come home to roost.   We could have an old rival trying to take back what they consider rightfully theirs.

I'd like to think that each new relic would bring about a new adventure.

Sounds like a good scheme for a long series.

Well, Lowe has assembled Miss Suthers, Mr Klimt (and I believe we can assume , Mr Ford also) in the Study, you may brief your loyal employees on their various tasks, and we can commence curating & collating straight after lunch, and perhaps one of us may find whatever first artifact takes us upon a journey.

(I will leave Lowe's origin-story,  and the growth of the potentially sentient denizen of the pipework, for later fill-in episodes if we have a lull in the museum-work or it fits into an ongoing story-arc somewhere.)

Actually here's an idea - to keep the rest of the party in suspense, you could PM one member to be the 'finder' with a brief description of the next artifact and its properties/abilities/dire-curse etc, and we can all play-on from the initial find.

Not just pulling the cataloguing process out of my posterior; I found this  in a short search 0n the topic:
http://mavic.asn.au/assets/Small_Museums_Cataloguing_Manual_4th.pdf

probably a bit idiosyncratic, but the information seems valid, IMHO at least.

Since Mordavo was the assistant to a nobleman's librarian, it seemed to me that he would know of the process, since much of its "grunt work" would most likely fall to the assistant(s).

I think Gwin is more worried about the not being able to remember her life than the fact she could go to bed and wake up in somewhere entirely different.   I think the memories get distroyed by the constant warping of their senses by the magic.  Some of them can resist it better than others and Qwin is hopeing by understanding magic she can give herself an edge when the time comes.

Ok, I believe I've set up the basis of the sorting task, so after lunch we can head into the pile of potentail plot-items.

I see Lowe's role as that, a facilitator like a Jeeves or an Igor, not a friendly colleague
