For those with access to BBC iPlayer and who like their steam engines with a bit of thermodynamic analysis thrown in, you might want to catch a programme aired on BBC4 this week by the ever excellent Jim Al-Khalili - Order and disorder, or The story of energy. It's a really accessible discussion of the laws of thermodynamics and the scientists who developed them - Carnot, Boltzmann et. al.

Yours,
Miranda.
