Hello all! Came here to share this link, but also because this blogger posted something that made my heart sing:

This is our 5th year putting together the Worldwide Steampunk Event Calendar, and we're proud to announce that there are more steampunk events than ever before! Evidence that the Steampunk subculture won't be going away anytime soon.

A friend recently said she was surprised I was "still" into steampunk, because it's "over." I feel like she's way off base and if anything, it's growing. So this feels like confirmation--if it was over, events would be dwindling.

Anyway! here's the link: http://www.steampunkfashionguide.com/p/2017-event-calendar.html

Well for what it's worth to you, I'm new to the entire idea of steampunk and have no intention of letting it slip away before I've had fun!  I'm looking forward to finding events relatively close to me!

As I have 10 or so Steampunk Events lined up to run in 2017 I don't think this is something that is on the downward slope, far from it - I know lots of re-enactors who are moving towards steampunk becauseof the very welcome lack of authenty-nazis.

Here's a list!

Steampunk Events 2017

Following on from the success of the Crewe Steampunk Convivial I have arranged a few more steampunk events. All of them are intended to become annual events, they all have considerable potential to grow. They have been carefully chosen for the appropriateness of the venues for Steampunk, or because they are particularly attractive and have excellent facilities. I have also tried to avoid clashing with any established steampunk event.

March 24th, 25th & 26th 2017– The Swindon STEAMpunk Spectacular, in the Great Western Railway museum, set in part of the Swindon Locomotive Works. Fantastic setting for steampunk traders and for live entertainment. We have a Friday night Welcome Party and a Saturday night Steampunk Cabaret Show lined up in the Hawksworth Room, and over the weekend our entertainers include Montague Jacques Fromage, Ichabod Steam, Kiss Like Ether, Scarlet Butterfly, Moth, Greg Chapman, and Victor & The Bully. https://www.facebook.com/Swindon-STEAMpunk-Spectacular-166939860378448/

April 29th & 30th 2017– The Sandbach Steampunk Market – lovely Victorian Town Hall with space for 25 traders plus café and workshops, live entertainment, and then on the Saturday night a Steampunk Cabaret Night in the nearby St Mary’s Church Hall – usual suspects including Victor & The Bully and Kiss Like Ether. https://www.facebook.com/sandbachsteampunkmarket/

May 6th & 7th – The Coldharbour Mill Steampunk Weekend at Coldharbour Mill, Uffculme, Cullompton, Devon, EX15 3EE – fantastic survivor of the Industrial Revolution, originally water-powered but then they installed steam engines, which are in working order and will be powered up for our visit. Close to J27 of M5 in lovely Devon countryside. Nearest town is Tiverton. Space for traders inside the Mill, or outside on grass or hardstanding. Camping on site. Live entertainment both days and a Saturday Cabaret Night on site.

May 19th, 20th & 21st – YET TO BE CONFIRMED!!!   Steampunk Seaside Spectacular at Filey in North Yorkshire with the Scarborough Fair Collection. Unspoilt Victorian Seaside Resort with miles of sandy beach, great promenade, lovely gardens in front of huge sweep of Victorian Villas complete with bandstand. And, connected for the Saturday & Sunday by a shuttle bus service, the amazing Scarborough Fair Collection, a treasure trove of Fairground Rides, Traction Engines, Mechanical Organs, Vintage Vehicles, Amusement machines, and a huge Ballroom for the traders – entertainment during the day but all of the evening shows are “in town” so no need to pack away on the Saturday night, just come into town and have fun.

May 26th, 27th 28th 29th 2017– The Crewe Steampunk Convivial, with added entertainment and a superb line-up of entertainment including the Time Travelling Tea Tent, Steam Traction Engines, and a Victorian Falconry Display. Large market, lots of live music and shenanigans, evening shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at The Crosville Social Club. Building on 2016, this is going to be even bigger and better. https://www.facebook.com/The-Crewe-Steampunk-Convivial-438297533028895/

June 3rd & 4th 2017 – The Buckinghamshire Steampunk Weekend, stage in conjunction with the BRC’s Miniature Steam Traction Engine Rally. This is going to be fantastic! Full sized mainline gauge Steam Engines pulling vintage and classic railway carriages, miniature steam railway rides, model railways, AND Miniature Traction Engines! Plus the Museum, Visitor Centre, Station, more locomotives and rolling stock than a little, with STEAMPUNK traders and Entertainment, what a fabulous event this is going to be! Lotsof photos from last year’s inaugural event (without the mini-traction engines) at https://www.facebook.com/Buckinghamshire-Steampunk-Weekend-1056528851092705/

June 24th & 25th – tbc – a Steampunk Weekend in a real Castle! Genuine medieval castle near Durham, extensively remodelled for showing off and parties by renowned Victorian architect Anthony Salvin, later the HQ of Durham Light Infantry. Splendid location for steampunk posing and photographs – space for traders both inside and on the lawns inside the castle walls, Ballroom for evening soiree if weather is unkind. Combine it with exploring the Fortress City of the Prince Bishops!  https://www.facebook.com/Brancepeth-Castle-Steampunk-Weekend-301249496938833/

July 15th & 16th 2017 – The Bursledon Brickworks Steampunk Festival, based in the ONLY Steam-powered Victorian Brickworks that remains in the whole of the UK, probably the whole of Europe. Space for lots and lots of traders all inside and on the ground floor, live entertainment from a huge line up of top quality acts, and a Saturday night Steampunk cabaret on the first floow in the exhibition gallery – at none of my markets do traders have to pack up so the evening shows can happen, having been a trader myself I would not want to do this and don’t see why anyone else would like it. https://www.facebook.com/Bursledon-Brickworks-Steampunk-Festival-306317369721929/

September 9th& 10th  -  The Hereford Waterworks Museum Steampunk Weekend – Fantastic place, full of steam-powered machines in full working order, which they will have steamed-up for this weekend! Limited space inside for traders, but there’s room for tents and gazebos outside as well. This one is small-scale due to limitations of the site, but we are hoping to make friends with the neighbours to gain expansion room – one neighbour is a miniature steam railway! If you want to trade at this one book early!

October 14th & 15th 2017 – Back to Sandbach!

November 24th 25th & 26th 2017 – Back to Crewe!

Best wishes
David Smith
