"Friggin in the Riggin", otherwise known as "The Good Ship Venus", is a genuine folk song, in the sense that (a) no-one knows who wrote it, and (b) until quite recently it was handed down orally, i.e. was never recorded or written down.

I once tried to make this argument to a "serious" folk song historian, who had better remain nameless. He got quite upset with me, yet it's a genuine folk song by his own definition.
