Steampunk Events

Following on from the success of the Crewe Steampunk Convivial I have arranged a few more steampunk events. All of them are intended to become annual events, they all have considerable potential to grow. They have been carefully chosen for the appropriateness of the venues for Steampunk, or because they are particularly attractive and have excellent facilities. I have also tried to avoid clashing with any established steampunk event.

In calendar order going forwards these comprise:

September 17th & 18th 2016 - The Buckinghamshire Steampunk Weekend at Buckinghamshire Railway Centre, nr Aylesbury, HP22 4BY – live steam train rides, live music, live entertainment, miniature steam train rides, Museum, Steampunk Market in last remaining fragment of original Crystal Palace. Saturday evening Steampunk Cabaret Night at nearby Quainton Memorial Hall featuring Moth, Greg Chapman, Kiss Like Ether, Scarlet Butterfly, and The Retro Clones.  https://www.facebook.com/Buckinghamshire-Steampunk-Weekend-1056528851092705/

November 25th, 26th 27th 2016 - The Crewe Winter Steampunk Convivial – smaller in scope than the May Convivial because of weather and shorter daylight, scheduled to co-incide with the Crew Christmas Lights Switch On which draws a large crowd, we have a Friday Night Welcome Party, and a Saturday Steampunk Ball at the Crosville Social Club, where we also have a Steampunk Market over the weekend in the smaller room, leaving the floor space in the main room available for Montague Jacques Fromage to demonstrate Teapot Racing etc.  Great line up of acts, Saturday’s headline act is Victor and The Bully.  https://www.facebook.com/The-Crewe-Steampunk-Convivial-438297533028895/

March 24th, 25th & 26th 2017– The Swindon STEAMpunk Spectacular, in the Great Western Railway museum, set in part of the Swindon Locomotive Works. Fantatsic setting for steampunk traders and for live entertainment. We have a Friday night Welcome Party and a Saturday night Steampunk Cabaret Show lined up in the Hawksworth Room, and over the weekend our entertainers include Montague Jaques Fromage, Ichabod Steam, Kiss Like Ether, Scarlet Butterfly, Moth, Greg Chapman, and Victor & The Bully. https://www.facebook.com/Swindon-STEAMpunk-Spectacular-166939860378448/

April 29th & 30th 2017– The Sandbach Steampunk Market – lovely Victorian Town Hall with space for 25 traders plus café and workshops, live entertainment, and then on the Saturday night a Steampunk Cabaret Night in the nearby St Mary’s Church Hall – usual suspects including Victor & The Bully and Kiss Like Ether. https://www.facebook.com/sandbachsteampunkmarket/

May 26th, 27th 28th 29th 2017– The Crewe Steampunk Convivial, with added entertainment and a superb line-up of entertainment including the Time Travelling Tea Tent, Steam Traction Engines, and a Victorian Falconry Display. Large market, lots of live music and shenanigans, evening shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at The Crosville Social Club. Building on 2016, this is going to be even bigger and better.

July 15th & 16th 2017 – The Bursledon Brickworks Steampunk Festival, based in the ONLY Steam-powered Victorian Brickworks that remains in the whole of the UK, probably the whole of Europe. Space for lots and lots of traders all inside and on the ground floor, live entertainment from a huge line up of top quality acts, and a Saturday night Steampunk cabaret on the first floow in the exhibition gallery – at none of my markets do traders have to pack up so the evening shows can happen, having been a trader myself I would not want to do this and don’t see why anyone else would like it. https://www.facebook.com/Bursledon-Brickworks-Steampunk-Festival-306317369721929/

August 18th, 19th & 20th 2017– TBC – Wonderful small Market Town in the lush countryside to the west of the Midlands, with venues throughout the town centre for Friday night entertainments, a Community Centre for a Steampunk Market, an Art Deco Theatre for a Saturday night Steampunk Cabaret Show, and the most unusual “Chinese Gothic” building for Montague Jacques Fromage to run Teapot Racing.

September 16th & 17th – Back to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre!

October 14th & 15th 2017 – Back to Sandbach!

November 24th 25th & 26th 2017 – Back to Crewe!

There’s a website at www.crewe-steampunk-convivial.co.uk which has details of all of them, but to be honest the facebook pages are usually more up-to-date.

Thanks for this list.  We'll try to get to some of them.
