Thought you might enjoy seeing a nixie tube hat I made for Gencon2012 (a gaming convention in Indianapolis).  The video is here:
 


The tube is powered from a 9V battery hidden in the hat.  A custom electronics board boosts the battery to the 170V required to activate the nixie tube.  The battery lasts for several hours since the tube is off most of the time.

It is safe- as it is embedded, but it does run a bit fast.

Nice work though- have you added anything else? A big coil on top might be nice. Extra points if you can make sparks come from it!  Cheesy
