Wonder Woman is being given her own movie .  It harks back to the original theme and backdrop  of WW2   and conquering non allied military powers .

What do you think - Dieselpunk,  Steampunk  or just another graphic cartoon ? Will you be watching it ?

Here is an official trailer

For reasons I can't understand, the filmmakers chose to move Wonder Woman's origins back to the FIRST World War, rather than the second as in the original comics and the old TV show. This puts it into the cusp of the era associated with Steampunk.

I like that era, and I like the biplanes shown in the trailer released at Comic Con over the weekend, but it remains to be seen how much of a steampunk feel it will have.

Looks fancy. No doubt it'll feature all of the main WW1 tropes handily ticked off, heck, the trailer features many of them.

The plot will be a vague thing tied together with a great amount of spectacle, snappy dialogue, explosions, slow motion pans and 'blockbusting set peices'.

It'll end with a neat setup that allows it to hop forward in time for the next movie and to neatly plug in to the Extended Universe.

Given Snyder's previous superhero films chances are it'll be a total dogs dinner.

Doesn't look particularly Steampunk or Dieselpunk, but who knows what else is lurking behind the trailer.

It lacks the kind of tech you saw in Captain America. It's just a woman in costume running around the trenches.

Well it depend if you consider superheros comic as inherently classifiable as sci-fi. If yes  this is late steampunk/early dieselpunk, if not this is urban fantasy.

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

Every actress who plays WonderWoman will be measured against Lynda Carter -  can any of them fill her costume?

Are you sure that didn't already shrink in the wash?

Holy steamed crap, was she really that thin and boney?
That's the smallest waist......she does look rather cartoonish, no? Very articulated.

Besides the gold/brass accents, what makes this new version steamy. It gets close, but looks more diesel than steam.
Looks more; just because it may fall in the year range doesn't make it as "defined" because it's appearance lends itself elsewhere.
