Currently working on the center eye, which is going in a totally different direction than I'd planned. Almost as if it had a mind of its own...

Then its the part I'm dreading. Cutting and attaching the leather strap. I'm not that good at it though. Anyone have tips for making mask, or even goggle straps?

Try a discount pet supplies store for simple dog collars.  You may need two but they will be cut and pieced so you only have to do  the join to the mask instead of a full set of leatherwork.

I sometimes wear a brown with pink dots cat collar as a bracelet.  Took the bell off first though!

Turns out I had some leather straps and buckles tucked away in the junk drawer.Gonna give them a try.

In the meantime, I'm starting work on the third eye.

I like the way the third eye can be sealed in when not needed.

The eye has a Guillermo del Toro look to it.

I really hate this resin though. It takes forever to dry.

That is really creepy.  Please close the cover when I am in the vicinity!

Yes ma'am. Smiley

Best avert your eyes though, because 10 days in, and it's complete!

I'll try to post photos of me wearing it later in the week.

And I love the fastener. Much easier to put on and off than a standard buckle.

I did have a last minute accident. There was a hole in the ring around the eye, and a pool of resin leaked out and pooled the right side. Thankfully brass paint and a black wash covered the worst of it.

Great work- I like the way the mask sits, and the eye- well, don't be around when it is open!
The brainy bits around the edge of it are a nice touch.

Can't wait to see you in it  Smiley

It'll probably look better on mye, since I have a chin. Smiley

The only disappointment is that having tried it on, I can't really wear a hat with it.  :/

It looks utterly splendid and the eye gives me the creeps.

Re hat: You might be able to manage something with a smoking cap, a flat cap worn backwards or even a steampunked yarmulke.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Still have a few touch ups to make. I may take the thumb screws off and hit them with a blowtorch briefly to tone down the shine.

Where do you buy those binding posts?

That is truly wonderful; the finish is just superb. As to the hat, what about one that is an extension to the mask, possibly showing a bit more of that grey matter?

Yours,
Miranda.

You mean the ones that the wires are attached to?  Those are basically a knerled nut, two washers and a screw from the local Ace hardware store. The white portion is just a slice of plastic tube from the model/hobby store.

Looking great (pun intended). Just wondering; do you have some kind of apparatus to open the covers to the third eye, or must it be done by hand?
