This is for a art competition over on a other forum. I am making a head for toribash a video game, the theme has to be steampunk.
I was hoping on getting some help for ideas and details for on the head, it can be anything. So give all the cnc you want.
Do note that the shape of the head (sphere) can't be changed.

Please give your tips on anything hope you guys will help me out, thanks.
-Also sorry if I posted this on the wrong board wasnt sure what board to pick, hope I'm good.

Can it have a hat? Topper or bowler, or perhaps a cloth cap?

HP

More:-  A moustache? A pipe?

I'm getting carried away now... forgot to say 'hello', too. How rude!  Embarrassed

Hello!

Hello to the both of you thanks for having me.
Unfortunatly it can't have a hat that suits it. There are some 3d hats that you can buy but they dont look good for realism at all.
I could try to make a bowler as that fits the shape more then a top hat, will probably go for a cloth cap or something in the end.
He can have a moustache and he can have pipes running around it, I did however make a umh gas mask like thing already. (wanted to make something like this) : see spoiler.

Will try earphones aswell. Going to make couple of pipes run over the eye golden/ copper eye piece and possibly over the band thats keeping it inplace. However as the head cant change shape I can't make a antenna.

Wont be doing a hat. Too hard for me to make while having it look good and not mess up the mapping. Might add a hood or just hair. Should I add on the other side of the face something or just a eye.

Also updated first post with new wips.

Edit: Should I include the flats when posting wips or do you guys rather just see the 3d head?

Aha! Taking shape nicely. I'm starting to see what you mean, and what the limitations are.

That's great, maybe I should have explained it more or show you some other heads so you all knew what you were getting into, anyway my bad. Going to try to add one sided headphone with a small antena to the left side of the head. Still not sure what to make on top. Thinking about a WWI pilot hat maybe.

Not important;
Also bugged some moderators and the devs to make texturing of 3d items possible. Isnt intresting for you guys right now but if they ever implement it I could work on a top hat of some kind.

(also what does HP stand for never heard of it.)
Edit: going to replace the coiled wire on right of head so I can it fit on the upcoming antena that Quin suggested. Going to search for some refrences now.

Just initials- Hektor Plasm...  Smiley

So much choice, eh? It can hold things back. But that's part of the fun. Honestly!

Are you able to use normal maps or bump maps as part of the design? You have a good structure underway, but there are some great shapes there that could do with some emphasis spatially. Popping the rivets etc. up slightly with a normal map could really help sell the materiality of the piece.

Even though toribash does support bumbmapping in a way, it does lower the quality of the texture by much so it isn't worth it.
Its more commenly used with tribal textures I guess.
