These are excellent! I love them when painted up, as they belie their size, and start to take on a creepy realness, like a tiny theatre set.
With tentacles. And Things...  Shocked

Brilliant.

Excellent work mate!

Glad to see that there are some others with 3D printers on here, I've built a Velleman K8200 printer and use repetier and slic3r, getting some good results with PLA, but ABS is another matter!

Excellent work mate!

Glad to see that there are some others with 3D printers on here, I've built a Velleman K8200 printer and use repetier and slic3r, getting some good results with PLA, but ABS is another matter!

Just bought a Prusa i3 acrylic variant myself.  Haven't tried PLA yet. Can't yet get ABS to stick to the bed but my Kapton tape just arrived from China and I've finished a cheap but (hopefully) effective enclosure, so fingers crossed...

Speaking of variants, I do like the chitinous legs version best.  And the little ducks on the wall of the TV one just make it perfectly surreal.

Thanks folks. I've only ever printed in PLA and the printrbot is pretty friendly. Anytime I have bed adhesion issues I just use the old blue painters tape and hairspray trick (and there's a sentence that only a 3d printing fan will understand).

I tried the hairspray, gluestick, painters tape etc but I found a 10-1 mix of water and pva glue smeared over my glass printbed works just as well and doesn't choke you with awful fumes!

Printbed temp 65 centigrade, hotend 190-220 centigrade

The fabulous folks over at 3ders.org approached me for an interview about Doorways a while ago and it has just gone live. Have a read... it makes me sound just nutty enough to be a real artist Smiley

Thanks Maets. They asked me a bunch of questions, but I have to admit that I thought most would be culled. It was nice to see it pretty much all end up in the article Smiley

Complete with wireframe old school 3d tentacles and obligatory pizza boxes and soda cans. Printing is underway Smiley

This is great stuff - I really must put a 3D printer on my 'list of things to get' - said list is getting longer!

A little bit more paint and a retro pixelart poster. Wanted to add a bit of authenticity and so according to the Cthulhu Wiki "ch'ftaghu" is loosely translated to "crossing a boundary"...

Wow! I really like this one, with the cyber feel! It's fantastic!!
Are you planning to make these available for sale after the exhibition or are you taking commissions at all? I'd love to grab one of these off you and stick it in a box frame, it would be so cool.

Congrats on the interview by the way, it was a very interesting read.
A 3d printer is something I've always wanted......

Thanks. I'm glad this one spoke to you.
I'm going to hold off on sales until after the exhibition but I'd like to eventually figure out a way to offer them up.
I'll definitely keep everyone updated once I'm sure myself Smiley
It's funny that you mention a shadow box... I'm just going through concepting  up a base for all of them. Because I've used a template, the same base should fit them all.

Well now, I happened to have just stocked up on PVA glue so maybe I'll give this a try.  Thanks!

A large turntable of dioramas, and each diorama should spin in place, revealing another diorama, so you can have a bunch of hidden revolving doors!

I love the look of this one. The contrast of the straight, neatly ordered morgue with the slimy, oozing rounded bulk of the monster just makes my OCD really happy. I can't wait to see this one painted up. Smiley

First time I've looked through this thread and, well, WOW! What a wonderful collection - all within a theme but all individually disquieting, and I love the detail in each.

Miranda.

Thanks folks. Glad people are getting a kick out of these. They are making quite the collection on the shelf... I'll be looking at how the bases will work over the next couple of weeks. Here is a quick photo of the paints, you'll have to trust me that it actually looks better in real life.
