I've been away for a while and only just come back to the forum (to post about an event near me). Clicked on this to kill a bit of time.... Glad I did! I've always been a sucker for variations on a theme and your Doorways are superb. Thanks for sharing them. I've only one idea, maybe a Tardis door scene?

Maybe a manhole cover on a sidewalk?

Oh thank you so much for that suggestion.  Something else to worry about while avoiding the cracks in the pavement (bears you know) ...

The cracks are fine (bears are too thick). It's the angles you need to worry about... and the Hounds.

Can you do some crazy angles*, with tentacles of course?  Wink

How about the floor vents or wall registers for the heating and cooling ducts?  Who knows what lives in there.

Maybe from a  fireplace or wood stove, while it is burning wood.

A library, perhaps with one of those doors covered by fake books.  It would be appropriate for one of the tentacles to be holding The Necronomicon.

A book, because books are doorways to the imagination.

I've just started working on the latest piece. It's an dirty alleyway with tentacles coming out of a trash can, some graffiti on the wall and a manhole cover on the ground Smiley

I already have a library piece planned Smiley

Latest Doorways... Alley. Been ticking away on this one for the last few evenings. Aiming for this one to be quite dark with some limited lighting from the sides. The tentacle on the wall will be morphing out of some graffiti Smiley

Just for a moment I thought that you meant the tentacle would be coming out of a graffiti on the wall that the tentacle from the dumpster would be spraying. Then I realized that you'd have modelled in a spray can if that was the case.

Lol... That would be pretty wacky Smiley Not quite dark enough for this series. I want the feel that the content of the graffiti itself has summoned the tentacles.

A graffiti pentagram, perhaps.

Marvellous stuff, sir.  Keep them coming - serious consideration is being given to a trip to Adelaide when your exhibition is on.

Thanks folks. Here is the latest update. I went for a seventies vibe... should look like the kind of alleyway that would star in a car chase with a base guitar heavy seventies soundtrack Smiley

That is a fun one.

Have you considered doing a stepped set. Meaning the same scene, first without a creature, then with just a hint oh the creature,  and so on until the stage most of your pieces show.

I'm in the midst of plans for a few things that I would like to have at the exhibition. I'm aiming at having some sort of automaton, something with lighting etc.
I'll add that idea to the list, it fits well with the theme.

Ha!  I like the HPL grafitto.

I think Maets is onto something - kind of live stop-action, if that makes any sense.

If that's the same creature he/she must be huge under that footpath!

Lovely!

I must say these really are all rather wonderful.

Makes me want to crack out the crayons and do a piece inspired by your work!

Here is the latest design. Library. The tentacles will be painted to look like book covers and pages.
