Airship Northstar is a full weekend celebration of steampunk set in the incredible and unique Ford and Etal Estate in beautiful Nothumberland – and features music, laughter, food, drink, jetpack racing, tea dueling, teapot racing, camping (for those that do) and general merriment of many sorts – plus a number of attractions and activities unique to the historic and incredibly pretty estate.

The Ford and Etal Estate is made up of distinct locations, Ford Village, Etal Village and Heatherslaw, all nestled in the valley of the river Till, and all within easy walking distance…we’ll be based at a central hub area with a full stage set-up, big steampunk market and food and drink stalls – along with a few special guests!

There is ample cheap camping on site, as well as a mix of B&B, Guest Houses and Hotels in the immediate and wider area

So what have we got planned?

well…

Scallywags, Rapscallions and Rogues, the dark cabaret is on Friday night: Hosted by the incredible Jezebel Steele – Featuring music from the amazing Montague Jacques Fromage and the Steampunk Funk Bizarre, Dale Rowles of BB Blackdog, Gurdybird and Victor and the Bully – including performances by Miss on Trapp, The Steampunk Angels, Scarlet Butterfly, Titi von Tranz, Fleur Noire and the spectacular Pixie Le Knot!

The Captain’s Party on Saturday night: Currently we’re looking forward to full sets from Metropolis, The Dark Design, Kiss Like Ether, Little Red Dog, The Wattingers, Birthrite and the North East’s own, Driven Serious

Sunday afternoon is ‘The Grand Lounge’: a time to chill out and reflect on/recover from the rest of the weekend – we’ll be opening the stage up to anyone who wants to perform – amateurs, professionals who just fancy a jam, and up and coming musicians and performers who just want to showcase a little of what they do

Also on Sunday is Crafternoon Tea, a crafters forum that will feature talks from crafters and techie types – the perfect chance to swap notes or learn new skills and techniques.

Over the whole weekend: explore Etal Castle, visit The Grand Exhibition of Automata at Lady Waterford Hall, Watch Ichabod Steam’s Animatronic Steampunk Band perform, See Tom Slatter perform, Try your hand at Bartitsu or just watch a demonstration of their skills, visit the Time Travelling Tea Tent, go and see the beautiful Hay Farm Heavy Horse Sanctuary and meet their giant residents, bring your rod and go fishing, visit the standing stones at Duddo, pop in to see the amazing workmanship on the Campenarti, walk the Maelmin Heritage Trail and visit the Woodhenge, visit the nature reserve, the working watermill, the ruins of the Victorian Colliery and take a trip or two on theHeatherslaw Light Steam Railway – there will be the huge market, competitions and races of all kinds, demonstrations, talks and loads more!

most activities are included in the ticket price – visits to some nearby attractions will incur an additional small cost but we’re working to secure significant discounts for all ticket holders, currently we’ve secured discounts at the castle, mill, railway and taxis for those travelling in from hotels in Berwick

Come join the fun! It’s going to be a grand weekend!

Thank you.  Alas I am not free to attend what sounds like a very jolly bash.
