'The Little Mermaid' or 'la petite Sirène'

Met her end caught in abandoned fishing nets, did a sailor hear the Siren's calls?

The project started after finding a one legged plastic skeleton at a flea market, procured for €2,00.
She stands around 12" in the case.
The tail was made by making an armature from piano wire, and 'skinning' it with masking tape, and tissue.  The rotting skin was achieved by coating tissue with PVA glue, and washing with thinned enamel paint.  Hair is from a doll, found at the same flea market!.

I hope you like her....

The Sirens call,
Summoned them all,
But one was deaf to her words,
In his net,
Her end was met,
and in a case,
She is displayed for all.

My pleasure and doubly so because I rarely ever write a poem (this in my 3rd in 2 years!)

I am flattered.  I love to write poems, but like you, it's when the mood takes me, and is a rare occurrence.  I am humbled that you should take the time, so thanks again my friend.

Wow- this tremendous Wunder and a poem! Tremendous!   Smiley

Does she return to the land of the living if wet? Might want to watch out for that...

Reminds me a bit of the coeleolanth dredged up some time back. It's a fish, of course, but the mermaid seems equally pathetic.

More nice work, montrehomme.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Lovely, well fit to inspire a poem in her honour!

Thanks to everyone for the positive words about the poem and triple thanks to Montrehomme 50 for sharing and amazing and inspiring piece of ghoulish art.

Never listen to the song of the sirens and it brings death to all sailors be in by see or by sky.

Brilliant work, as always. I love the little details like the necklace and the pose is just right. It would certainly deserve pride of place in a travelling Victorian show.

Yours,
Miranda.
