Dear folks,

Whenever I post an image with the usual [ img ] method, the system automatically appends it with width & height parameters limited to 650 by 480. Yet, browsing other people's posts, I often see pictures far exceeding those values.

How do you manage to embed larger pictures? Is there a trick?

No, the image size is a forum restriction only, and is set automatically during posting.

Several years ago we had to implement a limit on the size of forum displayed images due to the considerable amount of bandwidth they required, and thus were slowing down the load times for the forum pages (and racking the bills up due to excess bandwith usage that we had to pay our hosting company for). Back then we had a LOT more users posting multiple large megapixel size images everyday, so it was a big problem for us.

However, while the image is *displayed* at the auto-resize limits, if you right-click the image and select "View image" or your specific web browser's equivalent to that, then the whole full size image is loaded to your screen from the location that the image is hosted at - e.g. Flickr, photobucket, etc.

So everyone is still able to see your full size images, in your post just add this line above your image, and everyone will know... :

For full size, right click image and select "View":

Hope that helps. Smiley
