Working on a new airship.  This is sort of a wild one.  Needs something to complete it.  Any input?  Thanks

Hmm.. yes there is an element lacking that I cant put my finger on.. . minor decoration or dots on the top of the airship near propeller.

Word of caution  : sometimes adding something  can ruin it all.

There is what is left of the "Breathable Oxygen" from when the tank was installed in a WWII era aircraft.

Everything is rather dull now because I haven't sprayed it yet.  That will help some.

on the photos , it looks quire effective. It gives it a certain authenticity and patina.   Have you considered stenciling  a logo  or faux serial number on it?

I like that idea.

Also considering a propeller on the from of the balloon?

Far be it from me to add my input, but how about a couple of short Bat type wings about half way down the balloon?
maybe with a couple of control chains?

If I may, perhaps you need a focal point near the base, to counteract the size and colour of the top. Not sure what to suggest though.

The colour/patina of the top is very nice by the way.

Hmm. With the 'balloon' upright like that, something says- 'rapid vertical takeoff' to me... so how about some booster rockets facing downwards, for a speedy escape from the irate native lifeforms? (In less than 12 parsecs, perhaps...  Grin  )

May I say heresy now and let me deprive it of coupons for vodka.

But it is just made to slide up and down. He doesn't need this little tail and little nose. He needs large petals supports and ramps that would quickly unload and load the brave explorers and punishers.

And Yes. Room very suitable.

We are waiting for the fire of death,
And yet he is powerless.
Doubt away, goes away in the night separate,
Tenth our amphibious battalion.
Tenth our amphibious battalion.

Only fight away,
Sounds of another order,
And the postman comes from the mind,
Looking for us.

Thanks for all of the input.  Keep it coming.

Went to the local hardware store and then Walmart looking for stencils or letters of suitable size etc with no luck.  Probably need to go to a craft store.

Added a prop on the balloon front, opposite the tail.

Added control chains. Really liked this suggestion.

Interrupted by my dog who wanted to go for a walk, so now back to the shop to see what else works.

Thanks.

May I suggest that you actually take something off it instead?  For me the whole thing resembles a jellyfish/Portuguese-man-o-war type of creature and therefore the dolphin figurehead on the 'basket' doesn't look quite right. How about some more tentacles wrapping round the top edge of that and joining the legs that it's resting on?

Thanks for the input.  Part of me loves the dolphin head with the tentacles and part of me does not. I have thought about removing it, but then again no.  I appreciate your take and will give it more thought.

Here are shots of the front prop and the control chains.  If you pull down on one chain the other goes up and vice versa.

Love the controls!

Agreed - and the gearing around the forward propeller is a lovely detail too.

Yours,
Miranda.

Thank you both.

Found some numbers to stick on.  Added a cannon and a hatch into the gasbag.  Also a window.

Decided to keep the dolphin head.  My thinking is this:   This is hybrid design.  I have made pieces that were balloon style and ones that where rigid airship (dirigible style)  This is sort of a hybrid between balloon and rigid airship.  Adding the hatch and window set that as given.  Also there must be some machinery in the upper portion to drive the two props.  The gondola is a hybrid between a tentacled beast and a porpoise. Maybe the porpoise is a lure to attract kraken?  Maybe the tentacles are used to grab porpoises as they leap out of the ocean?

Just sprayed the piece.  Pictures later after it has dried.

thank you all for your input.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
What a lovely piece!
I'd suggest ageing the dolphin somewhat.
Flags?

Lovely work, Maets.

Does she have a nationality or a home planet - perhaps design your own airship flag for this and future builds?

Do the booster rockets swivel vertically, as well as horizontally?
