This is a most interesting post. I really liked it. Eben though many of the instruments here were developed in the 10th. C, the saxophone development definitely sits squarely in the 19th. C.

With a little more imagination, we'd have Steampunks inventing new instruments.  We hardly ever see any real anachronisms in Steampunk music, and the makers should get into the act.
