Hmm.. not sure if this is everyone's cup of tea--

--But I read somewhere on this forum, that "steampunk music" should incorporate elements of classic music alongside modern elements. This album seems to do that... and it's a free download.

Lanark - The Preserving Machine.  These are electronica covers of classic compositions. They've got a certain haunting quality to them that I enjoy.
 
I first found this album years ago on the site "Comfort Stand" which still exists as a free music archive... hey, check it out:

 There are some pretty unusual albums on there... lots of avant-garde and 'outsider' musicians who freely gave away their music. The site's owner seems content to allow the catalog to remain online for download, but it's more than a decade since it was updated.   If you're in the mood for something "new"...
