For anyone like myself, who is cursed with poor eyesight, I recommend http://www.glassesonspec.co.uk/. They do some fantastic reproduction Victorian glasses! Check out the 'Retro' section, they're a couple of pages in.
There's three suitable styles, a round, an oval, and a half-moon. The round and the oval even have proper period style straight arms and 'w' bridges. They do a monocle, too! The best bit is they're all under £30 WITH prescription lenses. I've just ordered a pair, and I'm expecting them sometime this week.
They'll change lenses on existing glasses, too. Don't know if they'd do goggles, but probably worth asking them to find out, they're very nice, helpful, bunch.

Thanks for this. As a not-slim, not granddad, I will probably have to adjust, but still worth taking a look at. As you say, the charity shops are running out of such essentials as standup collar blouses and so on, so this might have to do. I have made use of primark's mens shirts before, some needed adaption but still.

You could also add the Hemswell Business Park (about 10 miles north of Lincoln) - there are about 8 or 9 antiques centres there, at least two of which do clothing (I know this as my wife runs the one in Canberra).

Sadly, they don't seem to retail through the website last time I was there they had stacks of enginers trousers, black wool trousers with braid down the sides, 4 pocketed wool waistcoats and scads of all manner of over coat.
The time before they had a ladies edwardian walking suit, and black beaded victorian capelet
They also have a pair of beautiful victorian ladies boots I keep going to drool at (as there asking price is ridiculous, i think they'll be there for drooling purposes for a long time yet)
The prices are a little variable, but mostly decent vintage prices/expensive second hand clothing price.
If you are there, then nip into goldrush in the malcom arcade, less of intrest but about a third of the price

Hi All

Just to let you know, Lady Donna's vintage clothing is moving into the Guardroom (at the entrance to Hemswell Business Park, near Lincoln).

We're moving out of Canberra (on the same site) and concentrating on being more vintage-y; consequently the stock in Canberra is being downpriced, but it'll only be there for another couple of weeks.

Please come along and buy stuff; think of it as helping to fund our steampunk habit!

I'd like to reccomend the following, whilst not specifically steampunk the lady makes some wonderful waistcoats for both men and women and after chatting with her today it appears she working up a more edwardian higher fronted waistcoat mens pattern at the moment.

My wife got a lovely green and yellow printed waistcoat before christmas for a reasonable price. The lady I spoke to also talked of taking commissions and is currently making some pieces for a girl off to whitby in March.
