Started the latest airship yesterday morning.  After two days, here it is.

Not the aluminum bull head on the bench.  It will be the figure head for the vessel.  A test today showed that I could weld the aluminum to the steel.  Hopefully the head behaves as well as the scrap aluminum I used to practice on.

Looking forward to watching this develop, Maets  Grin

It does have a sort of 'tuggy' bow, doesn't it?

Thank you all.

The picture is not very good.  It looks sleeker in person.  The bull head will be very dominate, but that seems to work for an airship, based on previous designs.  The coloration of the hull is the preliminary rusting and adds to the hard to interpret pictures.

It is going to be a hot one today in the shop, but I hope to get a lot done.  If so, more pictures tonight.

Actually now that you mention it, that bull head looks like a longhorn steer. Go Longhorns!

Not the ship you would want to be in steerage on.  Wink

Just a few facts.  As seen in the above pictures from yesterday.  The hull part had 15 separate parts welded together.  I have added 10 more parts today.

Made a ladder which will actually be cut into two ladders, one long and one short.  Made from 2 side rails and 21 rungs.  Each rung requires 4 small welds.

The airbag section as of right now has 15 separate pieces and lots of weld.

More to come.  Pictures this evening. Comments, jokes and puns welcome.

Everybody seems cowed by the challenge.  Cattle got your tongue?  Heifer you don't speak up I'll have to calf my name on this topic.

Nice as always, Maets.  Looking forward to more updates.

Thank you kindly.

Here are some pictures of today's progress.

Rudder wheel in place.

Main drive propeller and tail fins

Bow piece.  Looks big, but you'll see what I am up to, if it all goes as planned.

Bridge with walkway and exhaust installed on gas bag.

Bow of gondola.  Aluminum steer head welded to the steel hull.

Well, the bull's head does make a difference, so I will change 'tuggish' to bluff-bowed!
Is that middle stanchion a bit askew, or are they all at a slant?

It maybe off a little.  I think the camera exaggerates the effect.

It maybe off a little.

I´d call that part of the "usual" battle scars.

I do like the airships to look like they have been in use for 30 years or so.  This gasbag has a number of dents in it, but I think it adds to the character.

Too hot in the shop today to get anything done.  Spent most of the day running errands.

Basically done.  Needs a few details, a support jaunter, a stand and a clear spray.  Pictures soon.

At this point over 100 pieces used to create it.

A couple of hard to see pictures, because of all the background junk.  It will give you a feel for what it is looking like.

Note the anchor hanging from the nose.  There is a winch inside the gasbag so the anchor chain can be pulled out and then winched back in.  To install the winch I needed an access hole big enough for my hand.  Still working out exactly what I will fill the hole with.  Originally thought it would be a jaunter, but after showing the piece to my wife, it will probably be a look on what is going on inside.  Machinery?, people?, cargo?

Many thanks.  I was hoping for an inspiration in a dream last night.  No such luck.  Will see how it goes today when I get in the shop.

Going with mechanical equipment in the background with a catwalk in front of the gears and a person on the walk.  I have to make it removable, just in case their is a problem with the chain and winch an you need to get back in.  Pictures later.  Still more to figure out.

Thank you for all of the input.
