The above image was from better times; the ship needs some restoration.

The boat has a great sentimental value to many people in Detroit, because it was the boat to a historic amusement park on Boblo Island in the Detroit River. The park closed in 1993, and not long after that the boat went into dry dock.

Are there any wealthy eccentrics out their that love riverboats?

Unfortunately, if it does go to scrap I hope that at least the engine will be spared. That's if the original is still in it.

As for the Ste. Claire, it sounds like the current owner is extremely possessive.  His options as stated are to find another place where he can restore her himself, or scrap her.  Sale to a third party is pretty much a non-starter... at least as far as I could tell from the article.
