I recently had part of my printer brake and when I fixed it and put it back together a critical thermistor fell out.
I didn't know this when I switched it on and the hotend overheated and produced "Magic Smoke" resulting in having to flush the machine with a Co2 fire Extinguisher.

Anyway getting to the point, I have discovered (well someone showed me a link) to a small 9v smoke alarm circuit which has a relay which can be used to cut/kill/activate excillery circuits should more Magic Smoke appear. I am going to add this to my 3d Printer to kill the heater elements on the printer but thought others may be interested in this device for there own projects.

no, its 9v (there has to be someway to alter this) and use an SSRelay for mains control (there is a datasheet for the chip used at its heart.)

Yes, I  read that, but it would still be nice if there was a device like this strickly for 120.
Easier.

There is. It's called a "9 volt power adapter," or sometimes a "wall-wart."
