Two separate posts stating that I was right? My lovely and long-suffering Wife has just snorted iced tea out her nose.

Was she drinking some ice tea at the time or is that just a special talent she has?

steam punk is dead! Glad I am a zombie.  Otherwise I need to collect the latest celebrity mag on which under 30 females are flashing their flesh today.

Hmm, before I go and parrot today's cliche could someone tell me who is the latest hunk I have got to have the hots for?

Why are so many of the male sexy celebs considerably over 30? Not fair;  I say.

Hmmm, Steampunk may certainly die within a hobbled individual. But just as certain, Steampunk lives on in the collective conscious found within the swirling eddies of the aether.

Because a man can pull off sexy a lot better after his voice changes and he grows comfortable in his own skin, the former comes along fairly early, but a lot of men don't become confident until they mature.

Otherwise embrace the "boychild" and go gaga for the Bieb.

I'm going for anyone who doesn't spend all day in the gym! As dear old Janet Weiss might say "I don't like men with too many muscles! "

I think I know the sort. Think they cannot wear a jacket without a concealed gun licence and cannot go to the seafood counter in the supermarket in case they pull a mussel.

Still -"Its life gym, but not as we know it" until "its worse than that, he's dead gym"

Steampunk? Dead? Not while I draw breath, I say! Wink After all, it is one of my trio of favorite genres, and I don't see that changing.

Moreover, how do you kill a concept?! Any ideas, chaps?

I realise that we aren't taking the idea of the death of steampunk seriously, don't worry Tongue

I certainly can't speak for all of the rest of the fine peoples gathered here, but I have not taken it seriously.
I have recently stumbled on the desire to cultivate an outfit that may be worn in highly professional environments... and also is deadly comfortable on a daily basis. (I am sure I am not the only with this desire. I hope... o.o)

Oh, did I miss the funeral, then? Undecided
Never mind, just set out the tea table with scones and jam, and a nice, revitalising cuppa.

Groove Armada 'Edge Hill' - good choice, I like it.

Can't we have a wake instead?  We have a monthly event called "Gears and Beers" over here.  Let's make it a "twofer"

I'm a misery at a wake - don't imbibe, you see!
In actual fact, that's not true. I generally have a lot of fun at a wake.

Ah! Quantized Inebriation State theory! I like it!  Apriori, you can't tell whether I'll drink or not.  But if you observe me at the pub, the quantum wave will collapse and there will be a 100% certainty that either I will be all drunk, or not at all!

Well as a grave robber I'll dig it back up. I'm more than positive someone in this fandom can re animate it. Then we'll all have a good laugh and cary on as if nothing happened.

Trolls are like speed bumps. You may have to slow down to deal with them. But they never keep you from getting where your going.

I found this article to be most informative in relation to the entire reasoning behind the "Is dead" tagline.

In fact merely by posting on this thread (or viewing it for that matter) your already it's victim.....

They'll have to pry my Steampunk from my cold dead hand.  No, the other hand.  That one is still gripping the last few shreds of Goth.  Though that may be happier in a cold dead hand.

I'm going back up to the attic and hide away as the eccentric medievalist...

I only just learned Bartitsu and bought my new fighting cane - whatever will I do with it now?

...Oh wait - I can just continue with my SteamPunk life and be 'out of fashion', like always.  Grin

Doesn't steampunk have enough necromancers and ghost hunters to keep us in touch with it in the hereafter? And barring that, isn't the 'dead' Cthulhu one of the patron gods?

but steampunk is dead.

See for these people, a thing is dead once you no longer get attention for being trendy for doing it.

So yes as an avenue for seeming trendy, steampunk peaked a while back and is now dead or dieing.

But Steampunk as an something other than a cry for attention is as dead as opera, hotrods, and Ren faires. No trendy attention whores loiter in those area, but those areas still have a vibrant thriving lifeblood of passionate people within them.

So, indeed. steampunk is dead, long live Steampunk.

Steampunk is dead, cut up in parts, sewn together and revived with lightning.
It's alive....alive...alive
