Someone months ago on the forum wondered what a difference engine "virus" would look like and how it would work; this would be my spin on it. Jake of All Trades made the brilliant suggestion that they would be lil-brass-nasties-with-buzzsaws-for-butts (not those exact words, but close..), so, thank you Jake! The engines I'd imagine these to infest would be the acres of brass behemoths forever spinning information, from the book, "The Difference Engine". And... please forgive me if the pics are a bit big. I'm still working out my photographic technique. This is sculpy, brass plate and wire, gears, pocket watch keys, a lens for an "eye", and a saw bit from a dremel. -Caz

Quite marvelous. The only thing that would make it better would be a sinister red LED somewhere. Simply ingenious.

now I'm curious what one would use for antivirus. Maybe something similar but with a drill for piercing this little guy's eye?

I second that. I'm inspired now to make an anti-virus, but I would like it to be of comparable scale.

I was about to throw in the idea of a bigger clockwork creature devoted to a human scientist/hacker with a vague semblance to a small hound to chase after it, but I like this better. Going to sketch Mr. Antivirus and his companion, though...I should post in 2D art sometime.

I second that. I'm inspired now to make an anti-virus, but I would like it to be of comparable scale. The ball of the body is two inches in diameter, and it's four inches from its lense to the far end of the blade on its bottom. I hope that helps... And I can't wait to see an anti-virus!!!
