Welcome Phil - we're a friendly bunch here.  I've always admired skilled knifemakers.  You've come to the right place for inspiration - the skills and talent here is very impressive.

Without knifes, chainmaille would be redundant.
As such (being a gentleman who has turned a link or two in his time)
I find this conversation to be aesthetically pleasing,
In a yin-yang kind of way.

Welcome to the boards Sir!

Is the handle metal?

Yes it's solid copper hammer textured . I'm going to add a patina . And the kydex I'm using for the sheath has been infused with a hammered textured cooper effect. Also I'm using old military landrover leather on the sheath .

Ah! Sales pitch. NOT a bad thing! I've forgotten the number of times I've walked out of a pub with more money than I walked in to it with. Simply because I had my maille kit with me and closed a few links as I downed a few drinks.

Might I suggest Noble sir, starting a thread titled something like; "steampunk blades" proffering a design or two of your own and suggesting that others do the same. (remember to site proper legalities of moving offensive weaponry round the UK, EU states and cross continent).

From a platform such as this you will obtain a list of people who might like a "naughty little item". From there, PM is king. Nothing puts a light in the eye of prospective patrons quite like handing them the probability of their sharpened dream on a platter before them.

You are in the business of turning flights of fancy into practical realities. In order to do so you need to encourage the dreaming of others.

That is sound advice thank you . I'm not really one to go and start sales pitching to be fair . I may however take your advice shortly and write a post . For now I will just plod on with this order and keep this post updated till it is finished . For now
