I am looking into starting a weekend event, in the North east of England, in a Victorian seaside town, which (I feel) is ideal for this sort of event.
The town has many Victorian amenities; pleasure gardens, beach, lido, original Victorian pier, miniature railway, full-size railway, (small) theatre, and ballroom. The event will hopefully begin on the Friday evening, continue through Saturday and Sunday, and finish with a big send off on Sunday evening. I am hoping that members of the brassgoggles forum would kindly answer some brief questions for me, as follows;

Day Events

1. Would you like to see daytime events
   a. mostly in the mornings?
   b. mostly in the afternoons?
   c. all day?

2. What sort of day events would you attend?
   a. Workshops, classes or talks
   b. Traditional Victorian Funfair
   c. Tea party
   d. Competitions
   e. Film showings
   f. Steam Train excursion
   g. Boat Trip
   h. Local historical visit (eg. museum/country house excursion)
   i. I would not attend a particular day event, I would simply promenade, enjoy the scenery, and possibly shop.
   j. Other (please give examples)

3. Would you visit a steam-punk market?
   a. yes
   b. no
   c. possibly

Evening Events

   a. Friday night only?
   b. Saturday night only?
   c. Sunday night only?

2. What evening events would you attend?
   a. Live bands
   b. Theatrical performances (including music hall, burlesque etc)
   c. Grand Ball
   d. Film showings

3. If a three-day ticket (for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening events) were available, how much would you be willing to pay for one?
   a. I would not buy a three-day ticket
   b. under £50
   c. £50 - £75
   d. £75 - £100
   e. over £100

other information

   b. holiday cottage or house
   c. Bed and Breakfast

Finally, if you would like more information on the upcoming event, please message me with your email or contact, and I will add you to our mailing list.

Thank you very much for answering this survey, your opinions will be a great help to both me, and the making of this event!

From the description, I assume this is going to be based in Saltburn-by-the-Sea?

My only critique would be that it is quite close proximity to the allready well established Whitby Goth events... So you would need to plan carefully, or you may find people will either err on the safe side and stick with a well known event nearby, or they will only have enough money for so many events in one year, and decide to keep with the allready established events.

If you are aiming for a large crowd from all over, then you would also need to run this mid-way between the Whitby and the Lincoln Asylum events - and that really only leaves you May - June...  That may be a bit too close between events for some people and their cash resources.  Undecided

It's doable though! You just need a unique selling point that is different from the other two events - something that makes people think "Ooh! I fancy that!"

The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

Moderators, it seems to me that rather than being relegated to "Off Topic", this ought to be relocated to "Geographical".

First, thank you.

Second, it looks like Chicar answered the survey inside the quote. Heck, I've clicked the wrong doohickey (the technical term for the thingamajig next to the thingamabob) a couple of times myself so that my responses/questions are inside the quote.

I've gotten better...

Would it be wiser to build the event over a number of years, instead of planning a 'Spectacular' from the word go!
Both Whitby, and Asylum started as small modest affairs,...

Also asking people to shell out large amounts of cash for (weekend) tickets is becoming a warning sign in itself; how many people are still waiting to get over the planned disasters from the last few years!

Also a different part of the country will be welcome by many.
