The word pagan came from paganus , who mean peasant . Its was a way to significate than christianism was the religion of the elite and paganism the one of the savage worker class.

''Trickster shows us how we trick OURSELVES. Her rampant curiosity backfires, but, then, something NEW is discovered (though usually not what She expected)! This is where creativity comes from—experiment, do something different, maybe even something forbidden, and voila! A breakthrough occurs! Ha! Ha! We are released! The world is created anew! Do something backwards, break your own traditions, the barrier breaks; destroy the world as you know it, let the new in.''

What would The  Beachcombers  be like in  Steampunk. Would they all have one of those mustaches like the uncle.  What would Jessie's costume be like?

Would the grandmother have a tea shop?

 - and Relic's boat now there is an opportunity

Persephone would be almost the same, steam-powered instead of diesel. Silver Gale (the RCMP boat) would almost have to be turbine-powered, and I'm having a hard time picturing how Relic's jetboat would be altered.

Molly's Reach would likely not be a tea-house (given that Gibsons was a fishing & logging town) but would probably serve a decent local ale.

Other than that, I don't think it would be much different aside from the costumes and the occasional steam juggernaut hauling logs through town.

Could you remind me who you mean by "the uncle?"

Imagine the Tomorrow People in steampunk or other sci fi/ futuristic shows

The Bionic man- we have the retro technology
Blake seven
Lost in Space
My Favourite martian
I dream of Jeanie
Batman
Jetsons
Project UFO
Sigmund the Sea monster

Then we have the westerns  based around towns built up around railway lines

 The Virginian
Bonanza
High Chaparral
Maverick
Petticoat Junction
alias Smith &Jones
The Rifleman

Why?

Because the original serie and Enterprise are too modern in mood whiles the others are basically Onedin Lines in space.

I would tune in for the reality shows. "Pimp My Horse Carriage" and "Survivor: Pellucidar"

I was thinking of "Blimp my Ride" - a program about taking any land or sea vehicle and converting it into an airship.

That would be the late Bruno Gerussi as Nick Adonidas, co-owner of Adonidas Salvage and the Persephone and pretty much the main character of the entire series.
(I had guessed you meant him, except that he was a lot more than just "the uncle" on the show.)

He did have an impressive moustache, but then in 1970 so did everyone else.

With regards to my last post namely "The 60 million Guinea Man"... it should read as "The 6 million Guinea Man". Sorry for any confusion.

Onedin Line!
I once watched that whole series, up to the point where they got a steamship.

I still remember the episode where they discovered that there was a demand for empty barrels and ended up with a house full of them.

Oh awfull thought i had ! I realised than burlesque cabarets and brothels would saw a whole new potential in tele-broadcasted moving picture, if you get my drift *wink wink nudge nudge*.

( For my defense, i was...in a state proper to such inspirations...when i get this idea)

Easiest job on the planet: Subtitles transcriber for the Burlesque Network. You'd only need the vowels. Roll Eyes

I'd love to see The Barnum Channel.

In a bit of a reversal, I'd also like to see a carnival featuring people from reality TV. Since some people like to call them modern freak shows.

"Come on in and gaze at the amazing Man Boy! A full grown man who lives with his mother and plays video games all day! Or witness the fearsome Really Obnoxious Lady! She says what she thinks and she cannot shut up!"

On a local level, I think the 'public-access' channels would be mostly filled with programs relating to education at different academic levels.

Such might even replace formal, well public school instruction to a certain degree, as to require students to only be in classrooms for testing and 'hands-on' vocational training.

Of course the upper-classes would receive schooling from live human instructors as a standard of their status and standing in society, whether by tutors or in traditional established school settings.

Would they make reality TV out of period drama such as

Poldark
Dick Turpin
Lorna Doone
Moll Flanders
Red Baron
War & Peace
Jayne Eyre
Sherlock Holmes

The prison shows could cover the transportation and penal colonies in the far flung outposts .

 Irish Evictions and clearences
