Well, what can I say? I'm back Grin

Sometimes, art, whether 3D or a physical prop, sometimes it 'clicks' and you stay up late, setting aside all morality and just work until you've made a lot of progress. I've had it multiple times with my 3D works, but this was the first time for a prop. My Aethersaber isn't done just yet, but I'm already proud enough of it to show it to you all;

Gaze upon my works, ye mighty, and...well, hopefully be at the very least amused Wink

I, at the very least, will need to make a pommel (with attachment ring/thingamajig), but tweaking the emitter and the 'switch' is also on my todo list.

Welcome back.
Does your Aethersaber wail like a banshee or kill banshees?  Either way, nice work.

Welcome back.
Thank ye!

Does your Aethersaber wail like a banshee or kill banshees?  Either way, nice work.
Both Wink Though it's named for the wail it makes. It really is a Steampunk take on a Star Wars lightsaber and I imagine that the activation and operating sounds of this thing are higher pitched. Probably because it operates with the same power source as the Valkyr rifle; crystallised ectoplasm.

Nicely done. What is the main body from?
Thank ye! The main body is a old welding torch Smiley

I very much dig this, mate.  Looks good!  I could see that being carried by a Steampunk version of Luke or Vader.  VERY well put together!

Thank you, thank you! Don't praise me too much; I might get all cocky Wink

Yeah, I'm terribly sorry about that, ser Wink My travels led me away from these grounds for quite some time, but I guess the spark is back!

Nice work, how're you keeping?

Thank ye! I'm keeping up well. Trying to get 'Tarant's most sought-after bachelor', but that's not really working for me Wink

And now, ladies and gentlemen, on with the show! I was quite happy with the old emitter, but not fully. So, I tweaked it some more:

I'd call that 'done' Smiley Next up: tweaking the activation button to perfection and adding a pommel.

....aaaaaand I'd consider it done. The pommel was the last piece of the puzzle and courtesy of the local hardware store, the parts were sourced and it is now complete. A simple drawer pull and a random bit I didn't readily recognize combine to form something that screws in the bottom and proves a ring suitable for hanging from a hook on my belt Smiley

That's a nice bit of kit, I like that  Grin

Can I just say one teeny-weeny little thing? In the last picture, I personally would add a fibre washer or something to make those two hexes line up, but then I get OCD about such things...

Thanks! And although I appreciate the idea, it is unlikely to happen; the new hex has pretty short thread. If I add anything, it will fall out Wink
